Football is officially back! Let’s get this thing started!
Waverly went 7-5 (5-0 Region) reaching the Playoff Quarter Finals in Boldin’s first year back at his alma mater.

Region Opponents:

Houston Co, Parsons-Riverside, Hickman Co, Scott’s Hill, East Hickman

Non Region Opponents:

Camden, Huntingdon, Fairview, McEwen, Westview

How do you think this season will go? How will Waverly fair in the Region and Non Region?

We will play well in region play. We have a tough nonregion schedule. I can’t wait!

No doubt! Non Region will for sure be tough but there are talks about Houston Co and Riverside being pretty good this year again. I’m looking for Hickman Co and Scott’s Hill to be better this year also.

I am really excited about this years Waverly team, I feel like Waverly will be a lot better this year with the players we have, 2nd year under Boldin, and a new Defensive Coordinator!

Will they even play Camden this year

With Executive Order 55 now having been signed they'll open at home against Camden on 8/21.  It will be Randall Boldin's second year at Waverly and they return 5 offensive and 6 defensive starters accordining to Donovan Stewart's football preview from yesterday.  Camden is now coached by Matt McConnell (came from Martin Westview) whose history as the football coach at Waverly from 2014-2018 was highly successful.  I don't know what they return starters wise from last year's team.  It will definitely be a much anticipated contest in both communities.

Definitely excited to see this game! Will be a bigger rivalry then it has ever been. Glad Covid didn’t stop this game from happening.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
