What does this season look like for Region 2 AAAA?

  • District 3- Oak Ridge, Powell, Campbell Co, West, Central, Karns
  • District 4- Bearden, Farragut, Maryville, Hardin Valley, William Blount, Heritage
  • West moves over to District 3 who lost Halls, Anderson Co, and Clinton
  • District 4 loses West and Lenoir City

What would your rankings be for each league?

3-

  1. Oak Ridge: seems like nobody has beaten them in years
  2. Powell: Surely they can put something together this year
  3. Karns: Usually can score, but can they guard this year?
  4. West:  Could be a sleeper.  Was not impressed with their coaching last season
  5. Campbell Co:  Did well last year but choked in the tournament
  6. Central:  Not much talent this year I do not think

4-

  1. Bearden: strong senior class
  2. Farragut:  this could be their year to make some noise
  3. Maryville: down this year, but well-coached and can shoot it
  4. Hardin Valley: not sure what they will be, but should have more talent than the Blount Co. teams
  5. William Blount: scrappy and can shoot the ball
  6. Heritage: new coach, same result most likely

Watch out  for Campbell County this year. They have a senior-ladened team led by returning All-District performer Nate Walden.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
