AAA Thoughts

Two interesting matchups.

As I noted in the BA thread, the Eagles played Baylor tougher than anyone this season (7-6), albeit in inclement weather in Brentwood due to Hurricane Helene. Baylor only completed three passes in that game, though BA's strong passing offense was also affected.

BA's secondary looked very vulnerable at times against Father Ryan this past Friday night, with the Irish having a maddening number of drops, particularly in the first half. Also: lots of penalties for BA.

Ensworth is somehow an underrated 10-0 team in II-AAA. Someone in another thread noted that the Tigers defense is rather untested, which I concur with, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Ensworth's D vs. McCallie's O.

I've seen the Tigers offense look spectacular (Q3 vs. Father Ryan) but also look incompetent (late Q2 vs. Father Ryan) so it depends how dialed-in Ensworth is with that. Should be a good game.

BA seems to playing well since that close game with Baylor. Baylor seems to be playing well also. I am saying Baylor should be the favorite at home. this time of the year it also comes down to injuries and who is playing. I am thinking the running backs for Baylor may be too much. also, the talent at WR will be hard to handle for BA. but like any big game in postseason, it will come down to the line, turnovers and penalties. both are heavily penalized in the few games I have watched.

McCallie and Ensworth is the battle of the night. ensworth is untested for sure. ensworth defense is very physical and tough. mccallie's offense is good enough to score points. I think the mccallie o vs ensworth defense is 60/40 ensworth favored. but, the mccallie D vs. ensworth d is 70/30 mccallie favored. mccallie d is underrated if they can make you one dimensional. ensworth qb has not seen a very good defense this year. this also could be starting a very good rivalry with ensworth moving to the east division.

taking

Baylor 42- BA 31

McCallie 17- Ensworth 14

who has ensworth played???? when I look at their schedule I don’t see anybody….i am not saying they are overrated but when you really look in deep at their schedule they haven’t played anybody that mccallie, ba, and or baylor would not blow out…. they have not faced a team like mccallie all year and i wouldn’t be surprised to see a blow out…. 42-10

baylor vs ba….. 7-6 last time they played in the hurricane…. game of the week and maybe could be game of the year…. both teams have gotten better at the season goes along….rumor ville @Yellowstonebaylor has hurt players??? if so…. could be big news for ba….. gmac slinging the rock vs mills-knight and sparks… cpw vs kimrey…. going to be fun….another 7-6???

Me personally would love for the Nashville squads to represent the big private school championship game. But that would be me thinking with my heart and not my brain.

All that said, I do expect both these games to be really tight. I wish we had a NFL Redzone type of chanel that flipped back and fourth with all these great D2 games in all 3 divisions. Great night of football ahead of us tonight.
