lovetowrestle
It sounds like a good 1 day tournament! Where are the brackets going to be posted? Do you know how many matches a wrestler will wrestle to get to the finals? Good luck to all teams and wresltlers! Lovetowrestle
noonesfool
Every wrestler in the tourney will wrestle a minimum of 3 matches. The top wrestler in each of the 4 man pools will go to the semis. the winners in the semis will wrestle in the finals. Same process for the 2nd place wrestler in each of the 4 man pools only its in the consolation bracket. So the 8 wrestlers who place wrestle 5 matches and the 8 who dont place wrestle 3 matches (per weight class) [Edited by noonesfool on 1-7-03 6:59P]

silverpie
(a) A link to the draw would be helpful--I'm trying to find it and not succeeding. ( If there are 20 teams, will some of the pools in fact have to have five wrestlers? © How are team scores and tie-breakers handled?

silverpie
Thanks. I have no idea how I miscounted the teams there. In case you're wondering why I'd be asking such detailed questions, I'm writing a program to run tournaments, and wanted to include this format (which is at base a variant on the new Olympic system). One possible weakness in your tiebreakers--being pinned can actually be an advantage if that loss isn't counted in points differential, or has only a small one because the match never got out of the first minute, while someone else's major-decision or technical-fall loss is. I would suggest retaining head-to-head as first tiebreak, but where it fails, use the NFHS dual-meet tiebreakers (on a net basis--that is, pins, techs, majors, backpoints, etc. scored minus conceded).
