high school recruiting

Memphis City schools have an open enrollment policy. This means if you can get to the school and do not have an athletic record somewhere else you can play. Many parents simply move from apartment to apartment to get their child a chance to play on a good team. Look at the situation at Melrose with the girl that recently became eligible there from Hillcrest. Kirby has a girl that started at Millington and did the same thing. Small moves across town to play for a certain coach. What are these coaches teaching young people about responsibility. If the TSSAA wanted to be fair they would put all the Memphis schools in one region. They could eliminate each others recruiting. It makes no sense to split the Shelby County schools up into different regions. West Tenn. gets a taste of this with Westview. You have the girl from Collierville whose family just built a Million dollar home and she plays YBOA with the West Tenn. Wings and dad buys a house in Martin so she can play there. They had the finances and the parents filed of a "divorce". The wife still lives in Collierville and the husband has an office in the C'ville home. She was the leading scorer on a team that finished second in their district tournament. They would have had 4 junior starters returning if she had returned. Sounds like tuna to me.

Then turn them in. All you have done for two days is keep slinging this mud. The TSSAA has deemed her eligible. I have heard Westview made sure of that before she ever took the court.

There is 4" of snow on the ground in Northwest Tennessee. The weather is not warm enough to go fishing, especially for tuna since it's a salt water fish. :P

Kirby has two freshmen that are zoned for Germantown. The coach came to the middle school last year and talked with them during class... the Millington transfer played AAU with the kirby Assistant Coach last year.

there was a city coach at the county middle school boys tournament talking to parents about coming to his school.

A certain city school has sent letters to players from the county schools inviting them to their optional school... they only sent letters to the 2 best players on the teams, not all players or students recieved the letters...

An 8th grader quit her team after christmas last season... transfered to briarcrest and is playing varsity this year.

TSSAA needs to get a grip on zones... where ever you are zoned as an 8th grader you should have to go there unless you move!
