mt. juliet playday

the mj playday is supposed to be next friday, of course

rain is on the forecast for next weekend as well; however,

would someone post the teams and the pools for this

tournament?

I thought this was suppose to have been a pool play and then gone into a single elimination games. For some reason MJ is just having the teams play four games and then go home. They are saving money on umpires by not playing the extra games. Looks like they have some good teams but this one will not be as good as the Beech Playday. It looks like they even have more teams this year than last year. But with all of the rain and the long range forecast this one may not even be played. Why are did they change the format??

if we catch a break on the weather, then four games would

be more than enough for most teams, considering this would

be the first time on the field this year.

I imagine that play will be pretty ragged due to the lack of

work, especially in the outfield (unless there are natural born willie mays or andru jones types out there). since its just pre-season practice, it would be a good chance to

get the bugs out. that said, hopefully the mj playday along

with the beech playday the following week, will help prepare

everyone for the first regular season tournament (hendersonville) on March 13-15, since most of the same

teams will be playing in all three.

I thought Jeff Serbin was the assistant at MJHS?

Jeff is an assistant, too. He is also the assistant to the boy's basketball team. He may not be around for softball for a couple of more weeks (or days-- depending on the basketball teams status in the districts????). I am not tee-totally sure why funding was provided for an additional assistant to the softball team. 16 players with 3 coaches should produce a viable team-- we'll see.

 

Crazebear, I think I know who you are. I student taught at your spouse's high school-- UHS. Is that the right high school? I may be way off base- just guessing.

I am from Mt. Juliet and as bad as I hate to say this, they REALLY need to call off the tournament this weekend. I don't know if rescheduling is a possability but even if it isn't they just need to cancel it. Those fields are in worse shape now than I have ever seen them. There is NO way they can be ready and good enough to play on by this weekend. It would be better for them to cancel the tourny now so people can plan to have a life this weekend instead of sitting around to see what "might" happen.
