tlove13
This past Saturday's "Mountain Press" reported that Sevier County Varsity Boys position is open. Dave Gorman resigned as of Saturday. As a loyal Sevier County man, I just wanted to let any potential head coaches or current head coaches that this job is much nicer than the last 2 years suggest. This years' Bears were 1-27. I know that's bad. For the most part of the year, 3 sophmores started, struggled, but gained much needed experience in this district. The team is only losing 2 seniors-in which in my opinion were never difference makers. They have a couple of juniors: Aaron Miller-all-district, and Jeremy Parton(hurt most of the year-but great athlete). Phil Chaney(Fresh) got several varsity minutes this year and has some nice potential. There are 2 or 3 more freshamn that can play and have some size. There is also an above average 8th grade class coming in with 1 kid that could play right now. This could be a possible .500 team next year, and could be pretty good come tournament time. I think they are two years away from being better than average.By no means is this a dead end job. SCHS has had some success in basketball, went to the Sectionals in 99-2000. Another false rumor that I hear is that this is a "football school." In the last 10 years, most of the basketball players are on the football team-saying that because Coach Brewer is so unbelievable to work with. Football players are encouraged to play year around.Great support from the administration and the community. Great facilities with your own "Basketball weightroom." I know a lot of problems that occur in some schools is the inability of the boys and girls coach to get along over various things. Our girls staff is great and easy to work with. Coach Gorman worked hard for 2 years and it never got turned around. The talent pool took about a 3 year hit when Pigeon Forge opened up, but it's starting to cycle back through. I expect some big time coaches to check this out.
THEDOC
What's going on @ Coffee Co. I thought they had a very good, but young team? Some guys I talk to say they will win the state. I seen them in Shelbyville Camp last summer.
Ump
At last count Jeff Neal (AKA the Falcon Newspaper Guy) was up by three votes in the race to be next boys coach at Lincoln Co. Rumor has it that all votes may be stopped as former Franklin Co. Newspaper guy Jan Tavlin and Neal may become Co-Head Coaches . I"d say if you put these two guys IQ's together you might come up with a number that is close to the age as the old fart that runs Lincoln County HS Jimbo Stewart. Hey Jimbo grow some balls and hire a coach that will do whatever the parents want done. Or better yet why dont you let your wife hire the next coach, they say she has bigger balls and is more of a man than you will ever be! I bet she would at least give a reason for leeting a coach go. Thats more than your sorry butt did! Included in this statement is a picture of Jimbo Stewart hard at working looking for a new boys coach.
