wrestling head gear!!

Well, I got a horrible case of cauliflower ear this season with the top of my left ear about an inch thick with fluid, etc. This is because of my lack of headgear in the practice room and off season tournaments. So I learned the importance of headgear the hard way. I figure that at the high-school level kids should be somewhat mature enough to decide whether or not they want to take that risk, or at least consult with their parents.

head gear should be required in all divisions, all ages..someone can do some serious damamge..i know a man who wrestled when he was younger, and didn't wear his head gear...it looks bad....wrestlers should not have the option to wear head gear...

I can understand how bad cauliflower ear can get, but if you warn a person what can happen and they still decide that they wish to not wear headgear then it's their own fault. Plus, if they have to get their ear drained it will probably change the person's mind about not wearing headgear.

I noticed Dan Gable's ears when he was in Chattanooga and ,not having a lot of tact, remarked that they seemed to have sustained a lot of damage since college. He said if he had it to over again, he would have worn headgear. Something about it seemed macho at one time, now they just looked deformed.

As a wrestler I just want to say that I HATE HEADGEAR!!! It always gets in the way and if the tournament says it is optional I'm not gonna wear it. Also, it makes it really hard to hear your coach in the corner. I only wear it if the person I'm wrestling is wearing it.

Have you tried the Cliff Keen tornado headgear? As a coach I am always skepticle about new, innovative products such as this one. Once I tried it on, I was completely sold. It is extremely confortable. My hearing wasn't impaired whatsoever. Try one on and see for yourself.
