i have always watched this rivalry either on my own time or via television, and over the years the rivalry has cooled by my perspective...but old rivalries can always be renewed

mccallie vs. baylor, been to that one too, just wasnt thinking, it is a great tradition, and the crowds are great. the biggest game by far in the chattanooga area. and the records dont matter when they play.

I think that one thing that makes a great rivalry whether the teams realize it or not is respect for each other. I think Maryville and Alcoa are that way. I remember talking to Michael George (Alcoa QB) a few weeks after Alcoa beat us in 2000. He was talking about what a good team Maryville had rather than bragging that they had beaten us. Later that year I sat in Murfreesboro Friday night cheering Alcoa on to the 2A State Championship and the next day had several Alcoa folks sitting near me cheering us on as we beat Memphis East. We hate each other one friday night every year. Then there is respect between the two. Of course some are just plain ugly all the time, and both types are fun to watch.

in 1A one of the best is BRUCETON VS USJ. usj has the better record, but u can ask a player from each side and ask them about the oppostition in that game and u will get an honest,classy answer. im from bruceton but the best rb i seen in 1A is either brucetons patrick willis or USJ's tripp tucker. but as far as rivals go, thats a must see game every season. good luck to both this season.
