Question : If football is in-season because of spring practice, wouldn't that make girls' soccer, volleyball, and golf in-season too (or even basketball - they have spring-sumemr practice)??? Either open up the other boards that are in-season with football or lock football up. That's discrimination against the smaller sports. If you want more people to sign up for + memberships, then take away something they want. That's the only reason many people use this site anyway, is to chat about football. And if it's open year-round because it's in-season, most people won't see a need to pay any money.

Daniel... we are in transition between the old CoachT and the New CoachT. Everyone will adapt but it is always difficult to make adjustments to new things. I appreciate your opinion but we all hope you will join us in our extended CoachT family. It only costs $12.00 and you can get all the benefits of membership.

Coach Thompson's website has grown beyond what he can deal with on a part time basis. He was losing so much money trying to upgrade the server just to handle the amount of traffic. He had one of three choices:

1. Sell the site to someone who would have raised the prices anyway.

2. Continue to lose money and eventually close the site.

3. Chance upsetting some people and make some changes to increase revenue to the break even point with hopes of turning a small to modest profit down the road when he retires from teaching.

We discussed these changes for over a month and this seemed to be the best choice. I hope all of you will understand and join us in time. By leaving the "in-season" sports available for free, and all of the scoreboard and sports stories, we thought it would continue to draw those who wanted to be a casual CoachT.com fan while offering many nicer features for people who would be willing to offer a very modest amount of money to keep the "doors open."

Ok, did Coacht give that to you to copy and paste into every single post you make? I'm seeing that several times on here, and it's even worse than the back handed not-really-answering-your-question answer that a politician would give.

Let me make myself clear ONE MORE TIME: I understand the pay policy. I am NOT an idiot. I think paying for use of this website is a great idea. I have ALWAYS thought it was a great idea. I fully understand the financial obligations that coacht is under. I fully support Mr. Thompson being able to provide for what he does on this website -- he IS a teacher, and teachers don't have wads of cash to hand out.

(Please notice the overbearing, fed-up sounding sarcasm in the aformentioned thoughts.)

BUT, my question has NOTHING to do with all of this. What I want to know is how one justifies the football forum being open when other in season fall sports are not. In my opinion, Football should not be opened until the beginning of August when the season truly does start. And for the sake of coacht better supporting this website, Football SHOULD be closed until August, because it is such a popular thread. By closing Football more people will desire a + membership to talk about Football when no one is actually playing football.

ELA: I appreciate the help today.

DanielPhipps: Football is available now because of spring practice, AND the all-star game to be played this summer, AND the fact that football is the next major sport to be in-season. Therefore, I kept it open as a bonus to those fans and nothing else.

The reasons for everything is in the Announcement thread.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
