Union City is in for a long season, I would not classify the teams they have played so far as tough, pretty good yes but not tough.

According to Murphey's Fair book, Randy Barnes resigned after 21 years. Dont know if there is a difference between resigning and retiring. But I havent heard of him coaching anywhere else. Jim Fishel is the new coach.

I have always known Union City to be one the top teams in West Tennessee but I dont think this is their year. Dont get me wrong UC has talent but no Leadership, and they are a super young team. They have played three tough games against three good school. This Friday, UC plays Jackson North Side then They Have To Travel To Milan. Basically, UC will not be the Dominate Team That they have over the last couple of years but they will bounce back next year. Good Luck UC!

Randy Barnes did retire and is now an insurance salesman with Union City Insurance Agency.

Jim Fishel is a fine coach and it will take them time to get going again. Starting a program with a new head coach is not easy. The transition is not seamless, even at a good program. If I am not mistaken, they also have a few young, maybe new assistants. Give them time, UC will be back on top. Also, they have played some pretty good teams in the first three games. Hang in there, UC.
