1-9 and 2-8 teams in state playoffs?

TSSAA needs to fix the problem of some regions having just a few teams and others with 10 teams. York Institute and Livingston Academy are not in the playoffs while teams with 1-9 and 2-8 records are in! Some regions all you ever have to do is somehow win just one game all year and you are state playoff bound! There were 6 great teams in this region along with York and Livingston... Macon Co, Trousdale Co, Smith Co, Portland. York lost to Portland by 2 points had close games with Trousdale, Smith & Macon Co. (Smith & Macon were close until the 4th quarters) and Livingston had an even better team than York. Something needs to change...either give large regions more berths, or make all the regions the same size.

I agree bobcattfan it simply is not fair for schools to have 6-4 and 7-3 records and not go to the playoffs while teams with losing records are in the playoffs. The playoffs are a way to get the best teams a chance to play each other to find the best and with 1-9 and 2-8 teams that simply isn't happening.

Remember that the teams in these regions had the opportunity to not play in their current region. There are quite a few schools who play up a classification or have pleaded their case with tssaa to be in a certain region. Some of this concerned travel, these schools did not want to be in a region in which they would/might have to drive 100 east one week and 70 miles west the next. Other problems crop up from the metro areas, many of these schools want to stay together, so the 3 schools to the east and 2 schools to the north and 3 to the west whose closest region opponets would/should come from the metro area are forced to scramble for a home. Thus tssaa has some awkward regions and playoff situations
