BuckLateral
real: That site has crashed a couple of times. Must be a lot of interest. I'll try to give you what I can from memory. I stand to be corrected by the actual brackets or anyone else and apologies for any misspellings. First/second are on top, third/fourth on bottom. 103 ------Martin ( MPL) over Tayar (Ovt) Zamora (Ant.) over Carter (FRA) 112-------Martin ( MPL ) over Buckley ( HB) Close ( Ant.) over Patterson ( HB) 119-------Abrahim (Ovt) over Benson (HB) Hari (McG) over Lilliard (Strat) 125-------Murphy (FRA) over Mefford ( MPL) Eden (Ovt) over Haynes ( Strat) 130-------Jennings (Ovt) over Caples (HB) Heim (FRA) over Washington ( Strat) 135-------Lowe (McG) over Mitchell (FRA) Davis (Ovt) over McCrary (HB) ( McCrary was a last minute replacement for Troseth, the 3rd seed----don't know what happened to Troseth) 140-------Randolph (HB) over Bridges ( NCS) Sutter (FRA) over Binkley (DL) 145-------Yoder (HB) over Johnson (EL) Watts (Gln) over Hill (MLK) 152-------Clemons (Gln) over Coffin (MLK) Durr (FRA) over B.Vanderloop (HB) 160-------Jenkins (MLK) over Johnson (Ant.) Davis (Ovt.) over Robinson (HL) 171-------Valentine (DL) over D.Vanderloop (HB) Beaird (MLK) over Gregory (PC) 189-------Murray (FRA) over Pierce ( McG) Heffington (DL) over Cox (Ant) 215--------Hayes (Ovt.) over Brown (HL) Glaser (HWD) over Haynes (Gln) HWT-------Elston (Gln) over Layman (FRA) M. Vanderloop (HB) over Moore (HWD) As you can see from the spread in the championshions from each team ( Ovt.-- 3; FRA, HB,MPL, Gln-------2 each; MLK,DL, McG----1 each) and the final team scores already posted, this was one of the closest Region 6 tournaments in recent years. KJFan-----------don't forget the fried fish sandwiches the concession stand served up on Saturday. An added bonus and a welcome change from the usual hot dogs/burgers/pizza tournament fare. nununu
Some of you may not care, or have not been keeping track, but I would like to congratulate Nick Gregory of Pearl-Cohn at 171 lbs. It may not be known, but he is the first state qualifier from PC since 1994. That is a long stretch b/w state qualifiers. He lost a good match against Valentine in the semifinals. Good luck next week.
BuckLateral
Nununu: You are right about the Gregory kid. Those of us at the tournament were wondering who this kid was and, after seeing him wrestle a few matches, where he had been all year. Good wrestler----very strong and athletic. We heard ( don't know if it is true) that PC had some coaching issues when the season started up and as a result did not get entered in any tournaments and basically just wrestled a few dual matches. Too bad, because this kid is a good wrestler and if he had been in some tournaments would have made some noise. He gave Valentine all he could handle. He is a senior according to the brackets, which means he won't be back---------if he were, he would definitely be a kid to watch for next year. Since he finished 4th, he will probably get a No.1 seed and a tough draw at state, but his opponent better not overlook him because of the seed-----------and if he loses and gets carried, some 2 or 3 seed better not take him lightly because he is a 4th seed or they are going to get stuck.
