215- Ian Meredith vs. Courtney Coffey

 

Mereidth was a tough kid whose motor was always going while Coffey was probably the best athlete I wrestled and he was only a 9th grader.

I agree. Coffey is just a beast, and Meredith has technique beyond his years.

Whatever weight cody cleveland is at, he will be in the finals i believe. he wrestled really well this year and i know he will be hungry for another title.

Both Meredith and Coffey impressed me very much. It appears to me that Meredith was much better as far as wrestling skill went but it was clear that Coffey was just the dominant athlete. If I am not mistaken Ian also had an older brother that wrestled for Notre Dame who I remember seeing at state. I think that might be where he is getting his skill edge from .

 

Also, I think it is almost a given that Cody Cleveland will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

Who are the contenders @ 275 besides Forte??

On that subject, I heard there was some contoversy in the 275 final. Something about an escape or something supposedly out of bounds? Can anyone tell me what happened?

Lyons of CBHS will be a contender next year. He'll be a junior.

Forte pinned Lyons in 14 seconds

Correct, Forte did pin Lyons quickly, but that does not mean that Lyons will not be a contender. He went to Fargo last year, plans to go again, as well as freestyle and Junior National Duals, again. John will be a contender.

Was Lyons your back up heavy this year? I don't remember seeing him, but I have talked to a few from inside the Brothers ranks who say he should come out very strong next year. I was just wondering if I might have seen him at all.

Probably not this year, he placed 2nd at the Franklin Winter Tournament this year, wresteld at Kenwood and a had few matches here in Memphis.
