are you from Greenback because last year they said they had a chance and we beat them into the ground and we didnt exactly play the best baseball at the time. If you arent from Greenback where are you from

Greenback will have a solid club-

 

looks like once they get the basketball boys at practice, the infield will be tough and the outfield will get a shot in the arm of much needed quickness.

 

The rotation is soild with 3 returning starters, with a few new suprises up coach smelcer's sleeve.

 

I suspect Greenback will be in the runing for the district, and most likely the region. They will need to play good ball to get through the likes of CAK and rockwood, but this team has that potential.

 

As for the pounding you all gave them last year, that was last year, and this is the here and now. I suspect you will be suprised with the team you will see coming out of Greenback!

Im from Rockwood, and I got respect for Greenback, they always seem to have a pretty good program. But you talk about you not playing your best baseball and beating them up, how do you know they weren't playing their best baseball? And if you beat them to a pulp last year, why are you creating a thread about em?

Greenback should be pretty good this year. I remember last year that they had a good catcher but he was out with an injury but he is returning this year. I think his name is Geno or something like that. Anyhow, Greenback should be a good team this year more than likely depending on their schedule.

I agree with Nole and belcher10....I think Greenback may be in the hunt for a state run. Last year their coach added a couple of bigger schools to their list and they handled the competition well. Coach Smelcer has only had a year to work with this program and I expect Greenback to progress each year. Good Luck to the Kees'

The catcher being refered to is Gene Disney, who spent a good part of last year out with a broken ankle, he is healthy now, and will be behind the plate when he isn't up on the mound.

 

As for some of the suprises, there are a few kids on the team who learned to pitch over the summer, as well as adding some needed depth to the hitting....

A bigsuprise is seeing Caleb Moore roaming around center field. He has become a good outfielder. His speed and ability to read fly balls are going to make him an asset there for some time to come (he's only a sophomore).

 

Summer proved good to Smelcer in that he got some kids needed experience. And Greenback may be a force for years to come, now that they have instituted a middle school program... with some quality younger talent getting the grooming it needs.

Hey, Greenback's coach from last year made some major improvements in their program. The field improved about %1000 and their level of play was really elevated. Is he back? I heard some rumors about him having a conflict with the football coach/AD. Does Greenback have the same coach as last year?

yes- whatever petty problem the football coach/ad had has been resolved.

Chris Smelcer is back and doing good things with the greenback basebball program.

I'm glad for the Greenback kids that the coach is back. Greenback used to be a joke in the county, with Loudon and LC pretty much dominating them. I don't know how they did against Loudon, but they won 2 out of 3 from LC last year. The whole program seemed like it had taken a huge, huge step forward. As much as I root for LC, I was pleased to see that Greenback was becoming so much better. Coach Smelcer did great things for their program and I'm glad that he will be continuing with them. I know Greenback has a lot of athletes and I'm happy that baseball is receiving more attention there.

 

Good luck to Greenback, except against LC, of course! You guys beat up on them Loudon Redskins, ya' hear?

they locked the "worst fields in TN" thread before I could post. I agree with the guy that said Midway had a terible field, but Greenback's field is even worse, although I heard a few minor improvements were made last year. Do you'ns have grass in the infield yet?
