player69 i absolutely disagree w/ your comment more than ive disagreed w/ any comment posted on CoachT so far. That is why Clinton hasnt won in the past couple years is b/c they didnt have a coach to organize the talent and teach the players fundamentals. Like maybe tackeling different and that could stop a long run from a short run. Or just how to catch the football or hold the football or different things like that. Thats what wasnt taught before that is now. And i believe it is making a 100% difference.

I am glad to hear that things are on the upswing for Clinton. I have a few ties to Clinton. I have known George Wilson for many years, he is from my home town as well as ex bball coach Donnie Lockard. Wilson I think retired from Dutch Valley school and he had a son that played for the Dragons a few years back. BTW what is the word on Lockard and how is he doing???????????

Yes Clinton did not have a very good game against Bell Co. andlost 35-0,and player 69 as much as it upset me off when Borum left I believe their were other reasons for transferring, possibly to look out for his future if he wants to play baseball. Because we all know Halls is current state runner up's and is supposed to be better next year and Clinton doesnt have a very good baseball program.

From what I read, Clinton did a good job of shutting down Bell County in the second half, at least. That's a positive move in the right direction. Bell County was one of the best teams in Kentucky last year with some of the best running backs in that state. So for any high school team with a new head coach, starting off in a first game against an opponent like that is always pretty tough.

But coaches ARE important. I point to George Quarles of Maryville as a paramount example. Took over in 1999, Maryville could have crashed and burned in 2000, but instead they went on to win 3 states in a row. Scott Meadow, also, gets my respect. His first game with Alcoa was against my boys (which is Maryville, by the way) and they beat us for the only time in the last 10 years. He revived Jefferson County and I rather wish he had stayed there and not come back to Blount County. William Blount will be tough now with him at the helm. Meadows is like the Bill Parcells of high school football.

So Shattuck, if he is as good as you Clinton fans think he is, may be just what Clinton needs. Just be patient. Especially since that is one heck of a tough schedule that they have.

After what I saw at Carter last night, though (Maryville thrashed them 55-6), you guys should be able to beat at least THEM two weeks from now, though!

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
