  1. The youth is maturing. If you look at the last three games, they have steadily improved. Tied at the half with white county. Shut dekalb's starting offense out in the second half. Was a missed fg from beating hixon.
  2. The catholic and cumberland quarters were mostly a jv game. the cumberland ones played maybe two series and then it was subs and freshmen the rest of the way for them. I assume catholic was largely the same especially in the second quarter.
  3. As a Football Coach, I coach Track too, I encourage my kids to wrestle. It helps with so many things: kinesthetic awareness, body control, understanding tackling, understanding leverage, discipline, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY (the matt doesn't lie), conditioning, ect. However, one thing I see that turns a lot of other coaches away from it is the weight cutting issue. Thankfully, our wrestling coach doesn't cut our bigs more than 15-20lbs which was probably dead weight anyways. We did have a kid drop 50lbs on his own, but that was an outlier based on his own ideas. There used to be more of an issue of this but its not bad anymore with the mandated drop limits. Weightlifting shouldn't be an issue. Most schools have weightlifting classes that should keep kids from missing afterschool practice. If not, open up the gym early. It can work in a healthy school.
  4. OP is correct. However, the teams you pointed out all have one thing in common: they were the most physically dominant teams on the field. The 03 Germantown team was HUGE and had a giant back and would just grind people to dust. They were so big and physical the four yards and a cloud of dust thing set in. Hillsboro was similar but with speed. One mistake and the play was over. Similar to how Fulton was this year. It can work, it would have worked this year at fulton or Alcoa and probably at henry county, but to win it all it takes a special group of playmakers with this offense and if you don't have it, ALA Hendersonville, it will not win it.
  5. The Wing-T can win in 6A. Virtually any offense can win with the right players and coaching. Take a team with superior talent and execution and they can win with anything. Is it the best offense? I don't prefer it because it has a limited number of home-run options and high-school football offensively is about hitting the big play. If you closely watch a game, very few teams consistently and successfully complete 10-15 play scoring drives. That is where the wing-t falls behind to me. It is easy to get off schedule and then you become limited and predictable, thus the same problem Hendersonville had. The wing-t hybrid zone read teams are what are scary. Especially in Tennessee where a ton of teams run a two high safety look, they put a ton of pressure on the safeties to come down hill and support the pull while having to be careful of the p/a pass. my.02
  6. Whey alone is good but casein protein with whey is much better. Have your athlete make their protein shake with milk. It is slower than whey and will keep working for longer.
  7. As an outsider and fan of neither team, let me just say that thanks for the hospitality from the fans of both sides. I sat one half on each side and both sides were pleasant and welcoming even through I was sitting by people who appeared to be at every game together. As for the game, I was really impressed with both defenses. Giles Co's defense got put in so many bad positions by their offense it was only a matter of time before the lid was going to come off. I thought they did a really good job of containing Fulton for the first three quarters. The fact that the third ended 34-14 was largely because of turnovers. Fulton's pass defense had HUGE holes in it but the qb from Giles was running for his life most of the game. There wasn't time for a double move and though fulton was jumping the short stuff and the deep stuff was open, it wasn't because the qb was dodging a black and maroon wall running at him. Fulton also sniffed out every screen showing they were disciplined enough to realize the difference and react. Probably the reason they have killed people all year. Overall the best team in 4A won the championship and that is all you can hope for out of a playoff. Good season by both teams. From what I have heard/read Giles. Co overachieved and that is the true mark of character and effort. Fulton had the cards and played them well all year and were rewarded with a golden ball. My hat's off to both teams and fan bases.
  8. Bad Matchup for stone. Ooltewah wins by as many as they want. Stone simply doesn't have the horses to run in this race. The Owls have the athletes to man up and play eight in the box with little worry. Nice job stone getting to the playoffs with a young team, but Ooltewah is too much. Ooltewah 42 Stone 7
  9. Hey noob scrub, learn how to quote a post before you try to put someone on blast. Also, If you think Warren Co. won this game you are an idiot. The score board read 41-35 in the Jets favor and that is what counts. And how can you all complain about officiating when you got the worst call of the night in your favor with the "touchdown" to end the first half. The official on the sideline was in terrible position and never even saw the play. He just guessed that he got in when he clearly was out at the four. I have seen pictures of him out there at the four and the only thing that ever crossed the goal line was his helmet after a roll. The fact is your classless bunch fell apart in the second half. You had players repeatedly throwing punches and cursing profusely (one of which got ejected), had three turnovers in the second half (two of which were at critical times where the game was tied or you were behind), your coach kept kicking the ball away from the official when he was trying to spot the ball at the end of the game, and you had only two drives that had positive yards in the entire half. You couldn't guard 22 in the passing game and he abused you in the second half. With a big lead, you kept throwing it and you couldn't get a stop. Your coach wouldn't even let your players shake hands after the game because he figured they would do something stupid. What happened was Cumberland Co got an opportunity to get back into the game against a team and staff that melted down. There still were plays to be made and CC made all of them. They got the 4th and six to go down and score, they threw for 350+ most of which was in the second half, they forced turnovers, they played clean, they kept their composure, and they won. The only bad call that I saw was the leading with the helmet call, not because it was the wrong call, but because I don't think I have ever seen that called in a high school game in my life. But even after that there was a horribly missed horse-collar tackle the next play that evened it out. Anyways, I am done talking to a mouth breather.
  10. I guess somebody didn't stay for the entire game...41-35=STFU
  11. lol OHS. and mb was mike buck and nc was neil capps, two of the best high school coaches i've witnessed. Very old school, very good at developing character and they know how to win with the type of kids they have here in this area. They teach fundamentals and personal responsibility which is a lost skillset. They realize Its a heckuva lot harder to win with a 6'2 center then it is with your shortest player being 6'2 and but their system cirumvents that. Love em both. They will be top two for a while.
  12. Private poaching. Sounds about right. Don't know why you would want to leave Cleveland for mccallie ball though. They aren't much. Academics/other sports?
  13. Carolina, I don't think that anyone has argued the fact that 6-aaa is and will continue to be an awful district. Its the same in football and every other sport. We dont have the Jimmy's or the Joe's to play at the highest level. Its harsh but its reality. Now, if stone wins the district when they come in, good for them. I have friends on that staff and have known many of their players since they were little boys. I think the issue most are having is that you just think its going to be a walk in the park. Your own district isn't much in its own right, and Kudos to MB and NC for scheduling teams to get you prepared to play come tourney time. But dont act like Scott, Kingston, Loudon, Alcoa or CAK are basketball powerhouses. 6AAA's top two would both be in the top three of your district. But remember two things: one, though you won the district title this year, you have only won it outright once before, and two, regardless of how far you go this year, it will be your last trip to state for a while. AA and AAA except for the upper cumberland area where regardless of school size the same kids are virutally identical at every school, are a completely different ball of wax. Our region gets the pleasure of running into the Blackman/Siegel train for the forseeable future and that is not going to be pretty for virtually any team in the state. Good luck against Fulton tomorrow night.
  14. Sorry the "we" was unclear. It was meant as teams if the listed district.
