What are your thoughts on these rankings?

 

I'll offer one - Hardin County at #2? That seems way too high IMO.

There is no way you can rank Milan over JCM....... It just has to be the Sun is ranking according to last years season. I also agree that Hardin Co. is ranked too high.

I think the Jackson police department needs to get a search warrant for the Sun`s sport department. I`d be willing to bet they might find a few bags of weed laying around.

Hardin County and Lexington ???? I understand this is really a poll based on last year so how did these two teams get in? Huntington I agree with you can't leave Milan ,covington and JCM out , USJ I don't agree but the sun has to kept them in till they lose 2 or 3 .

Germantown and Melrose are not considered West TN. They are Memphis.

Decatur County Riverside has to play 6 out of the top 10 this year.

They also only have 4 home games. It looks like a tough schedule.

Lexington should be where they are. They still have an excellent trio of players in Evans, Buckley, and Fields.

 

 

USJ plsyed probably one of the toughest schedules in West TN for a 1A school. Now they have all of their guns healthy they should make some noise.

 

We'll see what Hardin County has, #2 is high for them but oh well, just a bigger bullseye on their back.

The media coverage is what defines it. Geographical west TN is split into two areas for sports coverage - (1) Memphis Metro, (2) everything else west of the Tennessee River.

 

The Commercial Appeal covers only Memphis Metro, and rightfully so. That's plenty enough on their plate. The Jackson Sun covers Jackson and rural west TN, which as we already know is all they can handle. As a result, when the papers rank, they rank based on the areas they cover.

Huntingdon should be #1 until someone beat them, Covington needs to be higher for playing Germantown to the last minute. I agree, JCM should be higher than Milan.
