ksgovols
My sons 6th grade teamed played yesterday in a downpour at DCA. In the beginning there wasn't any lightening, but the first strike was CLOSE! Naturally the referees got everybody off the field and the DCA folks did everything to get the kids to safety, but a direct hit would have been disastrous. I know I was standing in ankle deep water when the lightening came. What is everybody doing to protect the kids? We have a lightening detector that we use at Little League baseball games. What kind of policy do the high schools have? A detector is $200 worth of insurance and it can detect air to ground strikes from 0-40 miles out. Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Jr.
To not have and abide by a detector is asinine. Any strike detected within 7 miles should require fields to be cleared and not reentered until the last strike within that range has been lapsed by at least 15 minutes.
