Question about Oak Ridge for those in the know

I thought last year was supposed to be oakridge's year. They had booker and like 30 somethin seniors. I saw them play against maryville in a scrimage at bradley and this years team is better than last years. i had heard this years team was not supposed to be as strong. why is this team better? what has changed in the atomic city? I also heard central of knoxville beat them in passing league. who would win in a real game? could they beat maryville in a real game? will they beat riverdael? this team is exciting. they intrigue me. would love to hear some answers from boyfromsi or others who may know what is making them better thsi year than last.

I think this year's team is more of a "team". Last year there were some attitudes and a lot of individuals. I'm not necessarily "in the know", but this is what I've heard and observed.

I agree with the team statement. This team is much closer. Sometimes in my opinion a huge senior class isn't always the best thing in the world. If you have 30 seniors and only 22 spots.. Its not easy to make everybody happy.

As great as OR has played, it is still too early to tell if they are better than last year's team. The competition has not been that great. Certainly the defensive backs have not been tested. IF this team is better than last years, here are the reasons I see: 1) The TEAM attitude as mentioned earlier 2) several outstanding players did return - Gulmire, Mitchell, McMahon, others - and are a year smarter and better 3) most of the new starters are bigger and maybe better than last years 4) the unexpected addition of Rick Daniels-Mulholland and Joe Aloi 5) Landon Thomas is actually playing and 6) Revel Coffey has matured into an outstanding playmaker (in my opinion, more explosive than Booker).

 

The test comes this week. Two great teams and traditions. A big play or a turnover could decide the game. I think Oak Ridge wins by a Revel Coffey punt return.
