Mansfield Fires First Salvo

I didnt see that as taking a shot at Chester County.

I think Chester County coaches are trying to play the hype and get noticed in the area. Not so fast Jackson Sun.

Its gonna take more than posters and quotes to try to fire CC up!

Try billboards or planes with marquees behind them. If you paint that poster of Terrance on the moon for all to see, Chester County still will not compete with Huntingdon tonight. Dont fool yourselves.

Coach Mansfield doesnt play those types of childish games and the players just go out there and get the job done.

So imagine.... what if the CC Eagles win tonight? The jackson Sun would have played the people of West Tennessee just like they wanted to...... and sold a few hundred more newspapers. $$$$$$$$

And what if Chester County loses ( which they probably will!) The Jackson Sun will still rank Huntingdon #1 in the area polls and say they are the best team in the state.

Ignore the Jackson Sun and let them play their media games!! <_<

GO STANGS!!!

Chester County coaches trying to play the hype? What are you talking about? I didn't see anything in that article that would suggest that. That's a ridiculous accusation, RD. As far as getting noticed in the area, I think Jeff's record speaks for itself. The numbers Peppas laid out in the article tell the story well - not all of us are blessed with a long-standing football tradition like Huntingdon is.

I do not have any idea who you're talking about fooling themselves in terms of CC competing with H'don tonight. Who on here, outside of a couple of posters, has said that? Has there been a big CC contingent talking trash and being arrogant? I'll tell you this, though - the coaching staff and players better believe they can compete, or there is no sense in showing up.

Some people here in CC were upset by Mansfield's quote about the defense needing to allow some points, but there's no reason to get worked up over it. I'm sure he said that tongue-in-cheek, jokingly, not arrogantly as some here took it. Mansfield is a great coach and from everything I have seen an equally great person.

The Sun did what I felt was a really good article, giving Chester County credit for beginning to turn a losing program around, but also showing Huntingdon as the clear favorite they should be.

I went back and read the article again after hearing these posts. It's obvious to me that Coach Mansfield not only has good things to say about Chester County's coach but also some of their players and the team as a whole. It's also obvious that Coach Mansfield is joking when he made the comment about Pritchard letting a few scores through. If you can't see this, you need to loosen up and learn to take a joke

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
