With all 3 region games last night being upsets here are the updated standings,with their remaining region games to the right

 

Red Bank 3-1 East Ridge, Central

East Ridge 3-1 Hixson, Red Bank

Cleveland 2-2 Brainerd,Rhea County

Hixson 1-2 East Ridge,Central,Brainerd

Rhea County 1-2 Central,Brainerd,Cleveland

Central 1-2 Rhea County,Hixson,Red Bank

Brainerd 1-2 Cleveland,Rhea County,Hixson

 

I'll go out on a limb and say Brainerd wont make the playoffs and probably wont win another region game. I also would have to predict Central wont make the playoffs because their 3 tough games remaining. Their Offense is bad and theyll probably have to win out to make the playoffs. That leaves 5 teams competing for 4 spots. Another win for ER or RB would wrap up a spot. Thats about all the guessing ill do because in this region thats all you can do is guess. I dont know terribly too much about teams outside of the Chattanooga area but this HAS to be one of the toughest regions top to bottom. Brainerd(the region bottom dweller) beat Central who beat Cleveland(wins region all the time.) So theres just know telling. I really like Hixson,Red Bank, and most of all Clevelands defenses in this region. In the 3 region games yesterday only 76 points were scored.

i like what you said, Russ098, this has to be one of the toughest regions top to bottom. You always have to come out ready to play in a reagion 4-4A game. If anyother ppl have any news on the playoff spots, what could happen let me know.

Well let me just say this to all of the people that doubt the the Purple Pounders, When Central wins out the rest of there three games they will finish in second place in the region, and have another Home Play-off Game. Also when Central wins out and if East Ridg were to some how lose the last two region games Then Central would be the Region Champs. If you don't beleive me then just sit back and watch the magic happen. Hubris!!!!!!

Very Funny. Look, I said Central had a shot to win this game, but region? Don't you think it's just a tad too early to get a Central Band-wagon up and rolling again?

 

Anyways, this region, for the last couple of years at least, has always been known for being very tough. Each team, for the most part, pools talent from one main area, Chattanooga. My favorites for playoff contention are Cleveland, Hixson, Red Bank, and Rhea Co.

Oh come on now..Centrals offense is just terrible ..Theyre 2-5 ..They lost to Brainerd!...Theyll have to beat Rhea,Hixson and RB..All 3 of those teams can put some points up on the board ..The key game in the region this week is Hixson and East Ridge.

Yes central lost to Brainerd, but they beat cleveland, and has played ooltewah better than anyone so far this season. It has been an up and down year for them, and now it's crunch time, and they play best with their backs to the wall. Their offense isn't terrible considering they average over almost 400 yards per game. Their only problem has been putting it in the endzone. The defense is very good and the offense has yet to hit it's stride. When they get their confidence about them inside of the 20, they won't squander four scoring opportunities like they did Friday. Game of the week in 4-4A is definitely Central-Rhea, because a lot can turn on this one game. It should be a good one!

good post uncleD....i would have agree that central does play best with their backs against the wall. Central right now is right on the verge of being awsome....they average so many yards but shoot themselves in the foot in the redzone. they fix a few problems and they will be unstopable period they will go from not much to one of the best. and as far as "the central bad-wagon" no one ever talks bad about any other schools bad wagon but when the pounders fans get pump up about their team people get pissy....i think that shows very little character...but its ok cause central will show up for the next 3 games and then they will show up again back in harrison for the first round of the playoffs.

If you are offended by my slandering of Central Bandwagoneers, then too bad. Central was the favored region title holder for this year. They were gassed up even after Hixson shut them out like 14 to 0 in one half at a jamboree. That was written off, then they went on a huge skid, and all the Central fans stopped posting, when my team's losing I still come around and support them, so yeah, I am attacking Central's Bandwagon.

As a outside observer that has ben following THE PURPLE POUNDERS, for the last couple of seasons there is just one thing that I would like to point out to you that you seem to hve missed the boat on. I am saying this because it would seem that you do indeed have a knowledge of high school football being that you are on the top of the leader board for the Big One's Contest. You have pointed out and refered to the CHS vs. Hixson jamboree several times. Each time you mention how the mighty wildcats pasted the Pounders 17-0. Let point out how much you really don't know. In that game Hixson did have an awsome first play I beleive Swafford took a keeper to the One Yardline, Then your team fumbled it on the one yardline when Brent "THE HIT MAN" Hayes knocked the P*ss out of Adam Owens. The next three series that Central had the ball they went for 4 fourth down conversions inside there own 30 yardline, they only converted on one of those. The other three led to Two hixson TD's and a FG. Know lets examine why they would do such a crazy thing like that. It is called getting young untested offensive players addittional snaps under game conditions. With that being said yes Hixson is a weel coached athletic team, but if you really think they can dominate THE PURPLE POUNDERS, just ask Cleveland Blue Raiders who has the better team. Friday night Central's QB had 198 yards ruhing, And I'm not 100% sure but I think that is more yards than Ya'll had all night as a team. With that being said keep up the good work in your friday night picks, and oh By the way, Forget about placing any picks on Black, and go with THE PURPLE HUBRIS. By the way Hubris means Pride! Oh, and one other thing on a serious note what has happened to Swafford is he not playing QB anymore?

He's just not the man for the job. Sophomore Kevin Cantrell assumed the quaterbacking duties leaving Swafford to focus more on his defense and on his other skill position slots on offense.

 

 

 

As far as who is going to dominate who? I guess we'll just have to wait a few more weeks for that.

To be honest with you Ben, Hixson is not even on our minds right now, we are focused on this one game, Rhea county. One game at a time. We'll talk about Hixson in a week or two. As far as the jamboree, it's a jamboree. So what? I don't seem to remember Hixson building off of that. Good luck to Hixson, and good luck to the pounders, and hopefully it will make for a great matchup next week.

This is suprising..Central has alot of talent and i was thoroughly suprised when they lost so many games to begin the season..But theyve just won 1 game by a last second field goal and ya'll are talking hosting a playoff game.. Central is one of the more talented teams in 4-4A but if just 1 swing of events in that game against Central and they would be out of the playoffs.. Now i believe they can make the playoffs but lets save the playoff talk until after this week.. The playoff picture will get a little bit clearer after this week.. Hixson vs. ER and Rhea County vs. Central are both big.. The loser of Rhea and Central probably wont make the playoffs and even if they do will be the 4 seed... A Hixson loss will put them into that same boat.. an ER win seals a spot for them..Should be 2 good games..Any predictions?
