In another thread regarding NY, NJ, and PA wrestling I stated I'd research this because many folks view it as ONE measure of a state's wrestling strength, prowess or what have you. I'll just put the numbers out and you guys can come to your own conclusions. These are only last year's AA's. It would be better to do a 5-10 year retrospective but I am not that dedicated.

AA's by High School State for 2004

PA 14

OH 12

NJ 8

OK 6

IA 6

CA 5

KS 4

WI 4

NY 3

IL 2

The following states all had 1AA.

FL

IN

HI

AZ

WA

MI

TN

LA

IL

OR

MO

ID

SD

TX

VA

MN

I suspect that if you go back more years you will find some variation in the order of the top 5-7 but I think you'll find the same states are usually there.

Did IL have one or 2?  It's on both lists.

What All-American list are you referring to? Senior nationals, polls, Amateur Wrestling News, W.I.N., Intermat?

These are NCAA D1 AA's. Good pick-up on my mistake about Illinois. It had two AA's: Brian Glynn and Pete Friedl.
