Thanks for the update coach. Just as most of us Dragons suspected, nothing at 60 or 71. I am a little surprised at 89. I thought Powers would have gotten a 2 or 3 but I guess you can't have everything. Good luck to all your kids.

Wow!!!  The Heavyweight picture is crazy in Region 8!!

Yeah I know isn't that incredible the Region 8 tournament will have a large amount of the top heavyweights in the state. Did you also look at the 215 bracket, that has some excellent wrestlers in it. 130 and 140 are very tough to get out of the region along with 152 and 171, I look for whomever makes it out of those weights to make an impression at state.

215 probably weakest, Rahim a three seed.Look up his record not very good at all.Bernard 215 is first year wrestler with a losing recorded.112 has to be one of the toughest there 4th seed only has 3 loses this season. i think most the top 4 seeds hard to match the 112 top four seeds records.215 along with 119 probably the weakest.

yur forth seed mite have more losses if he had rassled the hole yeer.

I agree that 119 and 215 aren't very deep, but those first 2 at 215 are pretty darn tough!

He might also have alot more wins also, and one of those loses he moved up to wrestle Fink briacrest at 119.So whats your point since it sounds like you agree with me.

westsport and pantherboy, uh.....er.......bartlettdad, play nice now.....

thoughts......

i said 12 would depend on seeds, so less see how everyone wrestles

25 tough if the wolves can't get a top 4 seed

if the zebra can make a fist at 35, then look for a possible upset

surprised by short term thinking of wildcat 52 tj becoming a fatty for region

71 where's mustang russell

89 was as predicted except wasn't sure where wolves scott fit in

15 is not weak, just lacks depth

75 has state ramifications...... thumb

Yeah I only glanced over 112 that one is going to be fun to see.

125 will be more interesting if any of those competitors can stop Jonas's takedown-cut combination. I have yet to see him really wrestle on the mat. I know he has the capability to do it well but I would love to see he and Hunt in places besides their feet.

Jim, I must have missed some interesting things at 135 if you are saying stalling could make the difference... I must have missed something interesting there. I am a bit surprised by Harrison only being a 4 seed but that is a tough weight.

152 is still a total puzzle to me. I just don't see why TJ is there but maybe he will show me something this weekend but I have to think he would have been better at 145 in the state. I really think those top three in 152 are really close and it should be interesting. Have TJ and Cullen wrestled because I would have liked to have heard the seeding arguements if they hadn't.

The sad thing about 215 and 275 is that, if I understand the DI state seeding criterion, none of those guys can be seeded when they hit state because none are returning state medalists. Am I wrong or don't you have to be a returning medalist and region champ. There are definitely state ramifications in 275 and in 215 as well. I hope to see several of those guys on the podium next Saturday with at least one champ thumb .

Jim I will have to find you when I get there on Sat. morning so you can help fill me in on the Fri. action.

    • It's time to play everybody's favorite game of how is this season going to go. I'll undertake the fool's errand of a prediction. Encourage the region 2 fans to do the same. Cloudland: Top until they get beat always seem to perform year in year out with a small changing roster. Cosby, North Greene: These two could finish in either order they didn't have big senior classes. Lots of young guys got experience last season and most of their best athletes are upperclassmen it'll depend on coaching and if the kids can put it all together.  Jellico, Unaka: Like the two above could finish in either spot both of them lost key pieces to graduation. It'll depend on how returners play and if young guys can fill shoes.  Hancock: Small roster size devastated by a big senior class that took a lot of the experience and athleticism with them.
    • Confident that Marion, Moore, and Gordonsville are losses.  7-3 would be a nice turnaround.  5-5, 4-6, 3-7, etc. and it's a disappointment
    • Win the Watertown game, you can start 4-0. Lose it and you might be anywhere from 0-4 to 3-1.
