Who are the dark horses that might surprise people in the D1 state tournament? Why do you think they have a chance to do well?

I think some of the 152lbs out of region 2 will surprise some folks like they did last year.

How about some weight classes and the regions that they're from so that we have something extra to look for?

Mel Bryant, 145 lbs, from Hixson is very tough and I would not be surprised to see him upset some people.

Fairview's 152 Bobby Martin is one that comes to mind. Some others are Jason Kilby (CumCo) @ 103, Walline (Rav) @ 119, McKnight (RedBank) @ 140, Cox (Ken) @ 145, Recio (Rav) 160, Haggard (Rav) 171, & Opio (LV) @ 189. Parhaps some aren't considered "Dark Horses" but they might get overlooked. thumb

I agree. I think the bottom is a little more interesting though. I think it will come down to whomever is having the better day.

Lee Vandergriff from hixson at 112 has a chance at upsetting a few people at state. I feel as though he will probably place.

I won't be shocked if Martin or Haggard end up in the Finals. as for the rest you mentioned, they all definately have podium potential, and withan upset or two, maybe even finals themselves.
