The Unaka Lady Rangers continue to win one game at a time.

Friday night at Chuckey Doak, the Lady Rangers held off the

Lady Highlanders of Cloudland.

Final: Unaka 52 Cloudland 45.

Unaka's Balanced Scoring:

Osborne - 13

Roberson - 12

Renee Ensor - 12

Townsend - 12

Typical Unaka Win: Rebound advantage for Cloudland

as Unaka placed high emphasis on perimeter defense,

where the Lady 'Landers have been most "offensive."

Un-Officially:

Jessica McGuire scored 14 points for Cloudland.

Heather Banner 13

Matt Birchfield has done a Tremendous Coaching Job at Cloudland!

Congrads on the win!! B) I personally don't think that Matt Birchfield has had a good coaching year. If he did he would not have had 5 girls(?) quit this season. That shows something is wrong with Cloudland's girls program. Don't it?

ladybug,

A Very Valid Point well taken.

I am aware, and actually more aware than I comment here, of those

Internal Problems; and personally, I'd love to see the team regroup.

Granted, it's a little late for this season, but great effort should be made

to correct that part of the program.

My comment about Coach Birchfield's coaching is based on the fact

that the team has managed to hold together well enough to compete

at a very high level.

A fellow Sports Writer (who has seen more teams than I have),

said he felt that Daniel Boone and Unaka are the Best teams he's seen in

Carter, Unicoi, Washington and Sullivan Counties. Quite a heap of praise

from someone who covers the entire area. The point is that to defeat a

team caliber of Daniel Boone, and to play Unaka so competitively, is

pretty impressive, the Departures notwithstanding.

That is impressive, but as you know Krich, I am a Cyclone. We took down Tn.High and correct me if I'm wrong, the Cyclones clobbered TN. High. I know it's hard to compare teams unless they play, but Besty laid it to Volunteer also. Unaka played Volunteer late in the season also. Seems to me that there are some good teams around and how anyone in their right mind couldn't put Betsy around the top has lost their mind. TN. High did win the AAA district, right? Good luck to the Rangers and Betsy will have quite a tough road to hoe in the regionals. And about your "sports edit" all stars...... well?

Krich, I'll leave my last post, but I will also offer my apologies. That wasn't suited for this thread. I am very hopeful to see the Rangers and the Cyclones go deep in the tourny. It would be especially nice to see Cloudland move along also. There recent problems with players makes a feller feel for them and their coach, no matter what the root of the problem is.

On another note, I'm looking forward to seeing some "forums" on sportsedit.com Maybe we can give CoachT a run for his money up here in the hills. Keep us all posted on your progress and congrats to the Lady Rangers on their district win. Keep it up!!
