Prep Players of the Week

The player of the week in each of Tennessee's five Division I non-financial aid football classifications and combined Division II financial-aid classifications as selected from nominations by AP-member sports writers and broadcasters. Also, a list of those players receiving honorable mention for their play in games Oct. 17-19:

Class 5A


Andy Bailey, McMinn Co. - The senior kicked a school-record 53-yard field goal with 3.8 seconds left to beat Cumberland County 30-28.

David Wolke, Smyrna - He scored six touchdowns in a 42-14 victory over rival LaVergne. He was 17-of-22 for 320 yards and four TDs, and he rushed nine times for 83 yards and two more TDs.

Class 4A

Drew Galyon, Maryville - The defensive end had six sacks, eight minus-yardage hits and caused three fumbles in a 28-24 victory over then-No. 2 Knoxville Central.

James Garmany, Rhea Co. - He scored five touchdowns as three of his four passes went for touchdowns, and he returned a kickoff 65 yards and intercepted three passes in helping Rhea County beat Brainerd 40-0 and keep its playoff hopes alive.

Class 3A

T.T. Harper, Trousdale Co. - He scored six touchdowns in a 44-8 victory over Upperman. He rushed 12 times for 220 yards and ran for five TDs, and he scored a sixth on a 10-yard fumble recovery.

Class 2A

Derrick Springs, Marion Co. - He returned a punt and two kickoffs for touchdowns and had a fourth TD on a 75-yard reception. He finished with 352 all-purpose yards as Marion County downed Lookout Valley 41-13.

Class 1A

Will Healy, Boyd-Buchanan - He was 19-of-27 for 347 yards with three touchdowns passing, and he kicked a 22-yard field goal and rushed for a touchdown in a 31-27 victory over David Lipscomb.

Division II

Ryan Moore, McCallie - The junior had 12 carries for 82 yards and three TDs rushing, and he was 6-of-15 for 117 yards and two more TDs. Playing both ways for the first time due to team injuries, he had four tackles, kicked a 27-yard field goal and averaged 44.2 yards on six punts in a 39-22 victory over Lincoln County.
