Lawrence County names new Boys Head Basketball Coach

Coaching experience includes boys and girls basketball, football, baseball, softball, track, golf, and serving as athletic director.

Lawrence County High School is excited to announce Coach Joseph Wilson as the new head boys basketball coach. Joseph Wilson is a familiar name in Alabama's circle of basketball success with 27 years of head coach varsity experience and almost 600 wins. Coach Wilson replaces Shaen Clark who gave 20 years of his time and passion to leading the Wildcats on the
court and announced in March that he would step down from his coaching duties at LCHS.

Accomplishments
Coach Wilson will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our student athletes. He is coming to us with a vast amount of experience in both boys and girls basketball, with the last 16 of those years being at Winfield High School in Alabama as a head coach. With an overall record of 556-277, his success includes 2 Final Four appearances, 3 Elite Eight appearances, 13 Regional tournament experiences (Sweet 16), 18 Area Championships, 23 State Playoff Appearances, and 44 Tournament Championships (Conference, County, Area and Regional combined). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Science.

Welcome to Wildcat Country
Principal Brian Porter says, “Lawrence County High School is excited about the opportunity to have Coach Wilson join our faculty and bring his extensive experience to both the basketball court and classroom.” Coach Wilson adds that he looks forward to adding to the tradition of LCHS. His wife, Melinda, is an athletic trainer and has worked in the medical field for nearly 30 years. They have two daughters, Katie (22) and Kristen (19), and their pride and joy is Tide, an 8 year old Beagle/Jack Russell mix. We welcome the Wilsons to the Wildcat Family!
