Lawrence County High School Names Clint Wright As The New Head Baseball Coach
Coach Clint Wright brings an impressive resume with him to Lawrence County High School. He was a 2011 draft pick by the Atlanta Braves Organization spending 6 years in professional baseball organizations as a pitcher. Out of the six years he had four within the Braves organization and two years with the Frontier League in Saint Louis. During his college years, he was on the Columbia State Junior College State Championship team. Coach Wright emphasized the impact that his coaches had on him as he was coming up through the ranks and that is one of the main reasons why he wants to teach and coach kids. After his professional career, he went back to school and graduated from the University of North Alabama with a degree in teaching. He also spent 8 years as a baseball umpire with the LCBUA. Coach Wright was an assistant baseball coach at Lexington High School and assistant/pitching coach at Richland High School.
Coach Wright lives in the Leoma area in Lawrence County with his wife, Kasie Wright, and daughter, Emery Kate Wright.
Principal Willie Joiner says that he is excited to have Coach Wright coming on board as our new baseball coach. Joiner adds, “Coach Wright has a lot of experience in the game and we look forward to what he can bring to our athletes.”
Director of Athletics Matt Calvert says, “I love the passion and excitement that Coach Wright has for the kids and the game.” He also believes that he will be a great fit for the program and bring his experience as a player, official, and coach to make LC Baseball a state contender.
