Georgia boys fall to Tennessee all-stars

CHATTANOOGA (AP) — Bartlett’s Jonathan Loe scored a game-high 28 points to lead Tennessee to a 110-105 overtime defeat of Georgia in the Coca-Cola All-Star basketball game Saturday night.

Tennessee outscored Georgia 8-3 in overtime to capture the win, with reserve Corey Wade of Chattanooga Central scoring the game’s last points. His drive put Tennessee up 108-105 with a minute to play and his two free throws sealed the game with under 45 seconds remaining.

Loe — who has signed with Ole Miss — was selected as most valuable player for Tennessee. And Jason Holwerda, a two-time Mr. Basketball who will play at Vanderbilt, added 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Wade, who is going to Walters State, had 11 points for Tennessee and Brock Gillespie of Clarksville High School had 12. Gillespie signed with Rice.

Georgia was led by Marcus Campbell with 23 points and 17 rebounds. The Mississippi State signee from Westover was the Georgia MVP.

Mt. Zion’s Karl Hollingsworth added 22 for Georgia, Berkmar’s Clark Williams and Newton County’s Alex Adediron had 17 each and Jones County’s Jody Odom finished with 11. Hollingsworth is headed to Tulane, Williams to St. Thomas Moore Prep and Adediron to Senora Junior College. Odom is unsigned.
