OK...this is very strange to me. Why hasn't the DNJ reported this yet?????? When the girl's coach resigned...next day. When Hodges resigned...well you get the picture. Where is the DNJ on this?

I'm not sure what any gripe would have been with Couey other than the late season collapse - losing to a couple of teams they had just blown out a few week prior. If anybody saw the girl's 66-33 home loss, they can understand the concern about the girl's coaching staff. Football was 1-9 and 3-7 the last two seasons, so there hasn't been too much hand wringing over that change.

 

Fact is, the entire school needed a re-boot. A fresh start. Academics, athletics, conduct, the condition of the older wings. Look at what the band did. They got a $10,000 grant from Home Depot and renovated their band room and built a huge trophy case for the events hallway. The new attitude over there in all departments needs to be: LEAD, FOLLOW, or GET OUT OF THE WAY. There was too much "letting things slide" and too much "sweep it under the rug" for a number of years. People who were satisfied with the status quo might not be happy at first, but look for major long term improvements all through the school.

It was obvious that other 7AAA schools coming in there wanted, very much, for Lavergne to meet their potential in every way no matter the event. it was also obvious that Lavergne could put on a great show, had great fans, and a lot of pride and when students showed up a lot of motivation to support their own. they have done that in many ways since. Lavergne is an older school with a lot of tradition and will not be happy to let things slide or sweep it under the rug. There are certainly enough leaders in the school and it looks as if the administration is looking for some more to take it to the top floor. The rest of the fans from 7AAA want to stand their with them.

There is plenty talent there.

You only mendtioned talent athletically. AS an observation, it eminates in most avery phase of the school. It only needs to be challenged in a constructive way. It appears easily motivated and comes from parents and evidently can be promoted just as easily form the teachers.

A large number or graduates from the last few years (despite the obvious issues the school had that don't need to be listed) are now on the dean's list at their respective colleges.

 

Kids learn at a young age that if they can get away with being lazy and disruptive in school, they will continue on that path to failure. Too many like that can destroy the self-esteem of a school.

(but troublemakers can forget being able to ruin the reputation of an entire school anymore)

A source from within LHS tells me that the only reason Chambers got the Head gig was because the new principal who came from LMS did not want to lose any of the incoming freshman. Chambers seems to be more of a buddy to the incoming freshmen than a HS coach. Could be a long year for a talented group. Hate to see what happens when the talent runs out and he has to prove his worth.
