Class A Miss Basketball Named

MURFREESBORO- - -The winner of the Division I, Class A Miss Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

In Class A, Beth Hawn of Forrest was named Miss Basketball for 2010. Molly Heady of Clarkrange and Laken Leonard of Jackson County were the other two finalists.

Beth Hawn is a 6’1”, senior, center. She is a two-year starter for the Lady Rockets who averages 21 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 3.5 steals per game. She shoots 55% from the field, 42.9% from three-point range, and is a 72.7% free-throw shooter. Beth has scored over 1,500 points and has over 800 rebounds in her career. She was named to the All-District team and the District All-Tournament team 3 times, and was named the District 9-A regular season and tournament Most Valuable Player twice. She has also been named to the Region 5A All-Tournament team. Her teams have been District Champions all four years, Region Champions three years, and won the Sub-State three years. She is a member of the Forrest Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and volunteers coaching and teaching basketball to elementary school students
