Class AA Miss Basketball Named

MURFREESBORO- - -The winner of the Division I, Class AA Miss Basketball Award was announced at the conclusion of the championship game today at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
Chassidy Fussell of Obion County Central was named the Class AA Miss Basketball winner. The other two finalists were Heather Butler of Gibson County and Taylor Mills of Gibbs.
Fussell is a 5’10”, senior, guard. She is a three-year starter for the Lady Rebels who averages 26.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2 steals, 5.6 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game. She shoots 47.2% from the field, 36.1% from behind the arc, and is a 74.9% free-throw shooter. Chassidy was an All-District selection the last three years and in 2009 and 2010 was named the District 13-AA Most Valuable Player. She made the All-District tournament team and was an All-Region selection all four years of her high school career. She made the All-State team in 2008 and 2009. She was a 2009 Class AA Miss Basketball Finalist and this year was a McDonald’s All-American nominee. Chassidy has scored 2,468 career points and was selected to the District 13-AA All-Academic Team in 2010.
