Lady Dawgs take care of Wayne Co.

SUMMERTOWN - Columbia Academy moved one step closer toward a District 12-A sweep.
The Lady Bulldogs downed Wayne County, 4-2, to reach the winners bracket finals of the 12-A Tournament Thursday afternoon.
CA, which has already claimed the 12-A regular-season crown, built a 4-0 lead before holding on for the victory. The Lady Dawgs (22-9) host Summertown at 6 p.m. Friday in the winners' bracket finals.
Heidi Buchholz earned the complete-game win, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Heather Knox had a pair of hits to lead the Lady Bulldogs, with Katie McKeel, Courtney Pope, Mandy Lyons and Buchholz each adding hits.

Collinwood 10, 10 inn.
SUMMERTOWN - The Lady Eagles rallied for seven runs in the sixth inning to tie the game before pushing across the winning run in the 10th inning to reach the winners bracket final.
Heather Lanier pitched four innings of one-hit ball to get the pitching win, striking out seven and walking four.
Becky Scollard hurled the first six innings, giving up 10 runs on 13 hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk. However, only three of the Trojanette runs were earned.
Lanier went 4-for-5 offensively, scoring twice and driving in two runs, while Beth Long (two runs, RBI) and Anna Durham (run, two RBIs) each had a 3-for-6 day at the play. Durham drove in the tying and winning runs for the Lady Eagles.
Summertown's Ratasha Dial (two runs) had a pair of hits, while Megan Corbin, Mallory Scott (run, RBI), Brooke Kelley (two RBIs) and Mindy Wyrick (two RBIs) each contributed a hit.
Courtesy runner Anna McAnally scored twice including the game-winner for the Lady Eagles, while Carrie Meeks also scored as a courtesy runner.
u In Thursday's final contest, Wayne County eliminated Collinwood, 8-2.

Columbia Central 0
SHELBYVILLE - Shelbyville ended Columbia Central's campaign with a 5-0 win Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Lions (10-19) pounded out eight hits, but Central couldn't get any runs across.
Stacey Apple, Jacqueline Stinson and Roesha Goodman each had two hits to lead the Lady Lions, with Annika Garman and Jessica Bridenbaugh each adding one hit.
Amy Shannon took the loss for Columbia, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits with three strikeouts and five walks.
The game was the final one for seniors Ashley Ables, Apple, Stinson, Quavonda Crawford, Garman and Masinka Pointer.

Huntland 7
Culleoka 0
UNIONVILLE - Huntland remained alive in the District 11-A Tournament with a 7-0 win over Culleoka on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Warriors (11-10) garnered six hits, but Culleoka left six runners on base.
Anna Foster, Chastity Bowen, Katie Lavender, April Frazier and Kayla Cole each had hits for the Lady Warriors.
Paige Provey was saddled with the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Bridget Thompson pitched the final three innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with two strikeouts and a walk.

UNIONVILLE - Lady Rocket Vicky Tipps won an impressive pitchers' duel over Lady Raider southpaw Brittany Johnson in the winners bracket final Thursday.
Tipps allowed just two Richland hits, striking out five and walking none.
Johnson gave up just one hit, but it was a run-scoring triple to Chapel Hill's Leigh Beasley in the second inning. Beasley scored on a groundout for the other Lady Rocket tally. Johnson walked two and hit two batters..
Second baseman Debbie Zimmerle paced a solid Chapel Hill defensive effort.
Chapel Hill is the defending district champion and Class A runner-up, but Richland won the regular-season district crown this season.
Richland plays Huntland today with the winner to meet Chapel Hill Saturday at 11 a.m. with a second game to follow should the Lady Rockets lose.
