  1. Can Rutledge pull the upset in only their second home playoff game ever ('81 vs. Seymour)? What are the keys for both teams? Please respond!!
  2. Probably wouldn't qualify as marquee, but Rutledge is at Carter Nov. 20th.
  3. Back in the 80's there were only three classifications and we still had districts rather than regions. Just like todays basketball format. Only the teams that won their district advanced to the playoffs. So you had to play another district champion. District 1 would always play District 2 and it would rotate every other year as to had homefield advantage. In '83 it was our turn to travel even though we were undefeated. There was a threat of snow that night and Hampton called and said the roads were bad and we would have to play the next day at noon??? It was bitter cold and no snow anywhere that next morning!! Needless to say we lost a close game. McKinney was not on that team he graduated a year earlier.
  4. KevB loves his school and its sports teams just as you do yours!
  5. Why does it pain you hornet? What is your problem with Rutledge?
  6. Rutledge does have two college prospects. Senior to be Nathan Potter (6'2", 250) plays LB now but will probably play down in college has been visited by Marshall and Duke. Andy Collins is the other, he will be a Junior and is 6'5", 285. He plays DL/OL. Rutledge has enjoyed success recently. They missed the playoffs last year for the first time in 9 years I believe. They advanced to the quarterfinals in 2000. They should be strong this year as they took some lumps last year while playing a ton of sophomores and juniors.
  7. I don't believe that the power lines are in play. These might just be excuses for losing on the field. The Pioneers play pretty good baseball!
  8. The Travelers are not my team and I am not making excuses for anyone. I said that the Breakers have a good team and I was also impressed with them. They divided the time pretty evenly in the first half, but not in the second half. They had players who never left the bench in the second half. I think we all know that any substituting that you are able to do during the course of the game is an advantage at the end of the game, especialy when the other team has not been able to sub. I did not hear anyone say that the Travelers had all of the best players in the state. The Travelers subs are not slouches though, and i still believe that they win if they are able to sub and be fresh at the end of the game. Just my opinion, I am not trying to slight anyone.
  9. The Travelers had only 5 players until the 4th quarter when one of the guards from the other team came up to give them one sub. The Breakers have a great team, but they did not divide playing time equally. They did sub but did not use everyone. I believe the Travelers win if at full strength.
  10. I was there, And I didn't notice any platooning in the second half. I am not playing a card, just stating facts. I said you had a good team, but I believe the Travelers win if they had their subs.
  11. The Breakers did win, and they have a good team. However the Travelers only had 5 players. They split their team because another team did not show. It was just a 3pt game.
  12. What is the schedule for the Travelers 17U team after their 3:30 game today?
  13. Rutledge is on spring break.
  14. I agree with all that you say. I certainly believe that Daniel is deserving! I was just pointing out that these teams usually reflect postseason team success. Stokomo makes the point perfectly in his post. Rutledge Head Coach Kip Combs is another good example. As a junior he averaged 18ppg and made All everything. As a senior he averaged 26 ppg and was third in the state in scoring and only made all-district. The difference was his junior year the team went to the sub-state and his senior year they lost in 1st round of district tourney
  15. Kev, I agree taht Daniel is the better player and has more potential, but these teams usually reflect the performance of ones team during the season. Unfortunately Daniel didn't lead his team very far in the postseason. He is playing with the Travelers and they will be hosting their tourney at CN next weekend. Edwards should have been on the All NE team as well.
  16. Matt has some pretty serious injuries, but it appears that he is going to be just fine. Keep the prayers coming as he has some surgery to go through. Matt is a young man of tremendous faith and character. He has been an absolute pleasure to coach the past few years! Thanks for the prayers and keep them coming!
  17. KevB, Daniel Singleton is most likely going to be playing with the Travelers. Good for the Travelers and Great for Daniels future. Wise decision by him.
  18. Rutledge is now 9-1. Beat Seymour 17-1 yesterday.
  19. Rutledge is 7-1. They have beaten Seymour, Jefferson Co. (twice), and Pigeon Forge. Pigeon Forge was unbeaten until yesterday when Rutledge beat them 7-4 at Pigeon Forge.
  20. Irish, I think that you are referring to Singleton. He did play with a broken wrist as Rutledge pulled off the upset. He was a Freshman at the time. He has tremendous potential.
  21. Daniel plays for Rutledge. The Travelers want him badly, but there is some personal issues that may keep him from playing with them. If you would like to cantact him, I can let you know how. We were in your Christmas Tourney, and Daniel made All-Tourney. Scored 35 against South and carried us. Has been battling injuries the last couple of weeks as we have struggled down the stretch. Should be ready for the tourney.
  22. Daniel Singleton of Rutledge should be included. He's averaging 18 ppg with defenses always geared to stop him. Scored 35 yesterday against Sull. South to lead his team to win.
