  1. They are calling sideline warnings at all the games this year. Cracking down on it for some reason...even GQ got one. Does anyone know the status of Foreman's injury? The way he came down on his right ankle did not look good. By the way, a great game to watch. Looking forward to the rematch.
  2. Just watched Oakland and Blackman each in three different games. Like i said, I thought Oakland all last year was the better team. They just didn't win when it counted. Oakland should win this game according to most Middle Tennesseans. I just think an athlete like Jennings can give a team an edge over a superior opponent.
  3. You know, I am wishing for a close game. I thought Oakland should have won both games last year. If what you say comes true, what a dramatic difference from last year's games. Glad this one is being showcased on ESPN. Whoever wins will be ranked above Maryville when the TSSAA rankings come out, even if Maryville beats Webb and Alcoa. Just the way it works! The Rebels need Blackman to win! It will be tougher for Blackman to go undefeated. Especially, if Jennings gets hurt. I just think he is that important to their success.
  4. I am giving Blackman the edge in this one because Jennings is that good! QB experience is so important, especially early in the season. He has been there and done that already against a better Oakland defense. Look what he did against Maryville at Maryville. The Rebels have basically the same defense back again. It concerns me that Oakland is implementing a new offense with a new QB. Blackman by more than people think, maybe three TD's better. I would be interested in knowing how the players on both teams are handling the ESPN hype? I would be concerned about the heat if many players went both ways, My guess is, not that many. Should be a great game for Jennings to showcase his talent. Sorry Patriot fans, I just don't see ya'll stopping the Blackman offense.
  5. oh no! I had planned to write in "bladerunner". I know of no one else who can argue both sides of the same issue with equal enthusiasm. One who can so confuse the competition that they have no idea where you really stand. One who keeps stirring the pot with meaningless jargon. Absolutely perfectly suited for the political arena! Since Washington can't seem to be effective, it might as well be entertaining. My sincere regards and guarded appreciation to the Master of Agitation,
  6. I think DB is a lock to win the NET. Should be undefeated based on what I saw. Key will be keeping players healthy. I was impressed with the o-line because the Rebels have a pretty good defensive front four. Indians QB looked very good and he has weapons around him that will enable the Tribe to put a lot of points on the board. As far as a game situation...with GQ and Company and Maryville's depth.. in the Black Hole... The Rebs win by three TD's plus. I really hope we get to see these two meet.. so it doesn't have to be a fantasy league game. I know this sounds arrogant but...DB's offense got moving well when Caylor/White began to sub on defense. On DB's first score, the Rebs had half the starting defense on the field. Maryville just has too much depth and you add in the GQ factor and it just makes the Rebels too much for most teams. If DB doesn't have to play too many athletes both ways and really brings on the defense! The play-offs could be very interesting. Tribe needs to go undefeated and if Maryville slips up against Alcoa or West the play-off game may be played at J. Fred. Bottom line.. if i was a DB fan, based on last night's performance, I would feel very good about the season.
  7. Best wishes and prayers to young Mr. Cook. Hang in there! Speaking of hanging in there, very impressed with DB tonight on both sides of the ball. DB's QB is a gamer and the o-line looked solid. I suspect these two teams will see each other again. Thanks to all the DB fans for making the trip down. It made for a very enjoyable and competitive scrimmage. Hope the ride home was a little less eventful than the ride down. Ya'll come back now, hear! Maybe about the third round of the play-offs. Let us know how the scrimmage with Greeneville goes.
  8. With GQ it would be great if we just created Maryville High School / Junior College and he can just stay here with all his staff and maybe many players staying a couple more years. Form a young coaches training program. National Super Power High School/JUCO feeder program with our own TV Contract. Don't have to recruit, they come to you. Best of all, GQ and family stay here and we get to watch Championship Football for a long-time.
  9. I guess if he was able to lock down his zone, he would draw from Maryville and Alcoa. He has got the participation numbers up. If he could recruit a few frustrated players that are currently in back-up rolls. On occasion (not pointing out anyone in particular or implying recruiting) players have changed schools. If I am Hammondtree, I am telling kids, "you can start here!"
  10. Sorry Pep, I never have put Hendersonville down. Tremendous run for them. I went to school there. Proud of what they accomplished. As to Alcoa, obviously Maryville was better this year. Just thought we should give our county brothers some props. So many guage our programs (Maryville and Alcoa) based on what we do against each other early in the year. I just thought their win and the way they won (conditions they played in) against CPA was in my mind more impressive than our win over H'ville. To me, the Rebels win over Blackman was a much more impressive win than the champioship game. Any way we both have another Championship trophy in the case and looking forward to another fun battle of Pistol Creek. Which I confidently expect the Rebels to win.
  11. Maryville and Alcoa have taken care of business, no matter what the IFL or pollster say. But I must confess APB, what Alcoa did in the Championship game was one of the most impressive performances I have ever witnessed. Glad we played you early (most folks forget Tyson got hurt early and Love didn't play that much, if at all in the 2nd half). Those 90 + sustained drives has to be some kind of record. By the way, has Hammontree tried to recruit away some your stud players? I would if I was in his shoes.
  12. All players on both teams left it on the field. Actually, a fun game to watch! Congrats to Henry County! Great season West. Take the next step next year. Moving in the right direction. If I was a West fan, I would hang my hat on the phantom interference call. Not the players fault. They got right back in it and had a chance to win. This game will make a great study film of what not to do in the last 5 minutes of a close game.
  13. You are so right. In all fairness to all the players, offensive play calling by both coaches in the last three minutes had me scratching my head.
  14. Rankin is a brilliant coach! Did you see how he made CPA punt it down inside the 10 just so he could have longer Touchdown drives and eat up the clock!
  15. Thanks I couldn't tell which one it was! But I think I can see the writing on the "Wall"
  16. Hope Alcoa can get the mercy rule going on CPA and it will not delay the 5A game.
  17. Hey can anybody at the game tell us the misery factor at the game? Is this going to be an F2 or F3 or F5 ? Or will it just be an "F" like in the Maryville game?
  18. To me, the weather has the biggest effect on special teams, snaps, fielding punts, field goals, etc. Wind will effect passing more. Power running negates the weather. Advantage Alcoa.
  19. All the talk about CPA offensive line being so big and powerful (which they are) reminds of all the talk about those Goodpasture all-star offensive lines (which they were). When the time came to play Alcoa they did absolutely nothing. Not saying it will be the same, but sounds exactly the same. Goodpasture rolls over everybody with that big line and land a big fat middle tenn egg against Alcoa.
  20. Last night was a good example of how important (in today's game -especially 6A) it is to have a balanced attack. It kept Maryville in the siegel game last year and helped them win last night. If Blackman had the same balance, Blackman wins! I believe Blackman has the talent. The difference last night was coaching.!
  21. Did Upperman just let Tyner score 49 just so York could pad his stats? Or is Upperman's defense that bad? I personally have enjoyed watching video of York, great athlete, nice speed and a decent arm. I am anxious to see how Alcoa will defend against him. He is elusive. Alcoa could just pound the rock and use up the clock. They may just have somebody shadow York and hit him every play. I think that is what I would do.
  22. Yes ma'am, in 2012 it was 21 to 3. That was the only close one with them.
