  1. I usually decide where I'm going on Friday night around 3 or 4 in the afternoon of that day. I don't like to plan ahead because sometimes the games aren't as imprtant as we expect them to be going into the season. You can't go wrong with a good 6-5A game, and there are always a bunch of good ones. Pearl Cohn and Stratford could be a good game to go to. Just wait to see how the teams are doing when that game comes up.
  2. I find it hard to believe that the refs were worth 20 points. If Springfield wants to make any sort of run at anything past district, they have to learn to win despite poor officiating. Watcher... This is a sports message board. This is not a place for you to attack people. Go to MySpace if you want to do that. So start talking sports or quit talking. You're annoying the rest of us.
  3. 1. The Franklin victory over Dickson County in Week 9. 7-6 overtime thriller! 2. Independence's come back against Franklin and Scott Pettigrew (spelling?) running all over Franklin. 3. Josh Day (spelling again?) setting the tone for the 5A championship on the opening kick-off with one of the nastiest hits I saw all year. 4. Logan Darnell of Goodpasture knocking the daylights out of a Lipscomb player in Week 0. 5. Jonathan Utley of Springfield taking out about 5 Portland players with one hit.
  4. Smyrna: WOW! Complete domination. If it wasn't for turnovers, Ravenwood wouldn't have scored. Smyrna came out ready to win, and did what they had to do. I'm not sure what Ravenwood was thinking on the kick-off. As soon as they lined up and kicked it to that side, I told the guy next to me that it was going to be a big return. Congrats again! Josh Day (spelling?) is a beast. His hit on the opening kick-off was nasty. Congrats to Sonny Gray for playing a great game!
  5. I was able to see Smyrna play against Brentwood, and I thought they were a state-caliber team. Then they got destroyed by Riverdale, so I backed off of that claim. Congrats on proving me wrong for doubting y'all. As for the post game celebration stuff, I'm not going to bash Smyrna or anything, but I would've liked to have seen celebrate winning a state championship rather than beating Ravenwood. But they are kids. Let them have their fun. Ravenwood had theirs last year. Were they out-of-line? Maybe, that's not my call. Again congratulations to Smyrna for the big win, and the same to Ravenwood for making it that far.
  6. Wow. Great post. I'll agree with you about Ravenwood fans. I go to Lipscomb Univeristy and I've had the chance to sit in the stands with lots of different fans from different schools, and Ravenwood fans are the most knowledgeable, most respectful, and all-around best fans I have ever seen. I'll probably be sitting with yall again Saturday night. Not cheering, just sitting and watching what will hopefully be a very entertaining game.
  7. Maryville 96 Hillsboro 92 ...Sarcasm There could be alot of digits put on that scoreboard between this game and the 2A game. I'm not gonna make an actual prediction at this point. I will say that at the beginning of the playoffs, I had Maryville beating Hillsboro by 18 (42-24), but I also had Riverdale beating Franklin in the 5A game. Guess that won't happen. There are two Hillsboro teams: the one that did everything it could to lose to Mt. Juliet, and the one that destroyed Clarksville the next week. I hope that first team doesn't show up, and I don't think they will. Hopefully this will be a good one
  8. I saw all 5 of the above mentionoed teams at least once this season, and I saw several multiple times. Franklin was the most consistent. I only saw them play poorly once (against Pettigrew from Independence). In defense of Dickson County's defense, they would've shut out Franklin if it wasn't for a missed 20-something yard field goal. Ravenwood's D plays big when it needs to. Brentwood? You should've seen the Smyrna game. Smyrna scored at will. I realize it was week 1, but come on. Stop somebody. Independence...no way. Good offense though. I think any of the first three can provide an argument for why they're the best, and I wouldn't have a problem with any of them being called the best.
  9. The Maplewood-Hunters Lane game was a beating? This is a quote from you on that thread: So which is it? Is it a beating or a close game?
  10. Gallatin said the same thing about Ravenwood. Springfield beat Hunters Lane too, so what's your point? Both teams will struggle offensively in the mud. Final Score:Clarksville 17 Hillsboro 13 or 20 (depends on a late 4th quarter 4th down conversion)
  11. As an independent fan, the Hillsboro that I saw Friday night was not the team I thought it would be. I knew Mt. Juliet was on a role, but Hillsboro was lucky to win. Your quarterback was too careless with the ball, and your punter looked like a nervous kitten. If Hillsboro continues to make those careless mistakes, they will lose. Clarksville will capitalize on those mistakes. That being said, I did see something in Hillsboro that I didn't really expect: they wanted that game more than Mt. Juliet. You could tell at halfitme that Mt. Juliet felt defeated as they walked off the field, but Hillsboro was running off the field like they wanted it. If Hillsboro eliminates the mistakes, they should win by double digits, If not, Clarksville can definitely win this game.
  12. Region 6: 4 wins Region 5: 2 wins
  13. I'm fixing to head over to Hillsboro (2 mins away). Call me and keep me updated.
  14. As the best region or the region with the best team? To me, there's a difference.
  15. This thread isn't about individual teams. It's about 2 regions going head to head. Region 6 did make a better showing than last year, and as an overall region proved that it is better than Region 5 this year.
  16. 6-4A vs 5-4A? 6-4A has already won that by going 3-1 last week
  17. Two teams will make it through. If you mean "Region 6" teams, be more specific.
  18. Isn't this a Mt. Juliet/ Hillsboro thread? There's a seperate thread on officiating. Last week's officials have no bearing on this game. Mt. Juliet won, and now it's time for week 2 of the playoffs. This is one of (if not THE) most intriguing match-ups of the week. One of the best teams in the bottom half of the bracket versus one the hottest teams in the bottom half. The Bears have been on an incredible hot streak beforthis week, but I think Hillsboro is just too good. Not slamming Mt. Juliet, but if Hillsboro plays "Hillsboro" type ball (which is no longer Wing-t) they can beat anybody. As far as not practicing, I would hope that no team wouldn't practice during the season much less the play-offs. Hillsboro wins, but not by 40 Hillsboro 42 Mt. Juliet 28
  19. I think that the weather conditions play into the favor of the Clarksville offense. That said, Springfield seems to be unbelievably hyped up for this game. I look for Springfield to come out quick. This might be the wierdest prediction I've ever made: the first team to score a touchdown in the second half wins the game. Springfield 28 Clarksville 24 Good luck!
  20. Antioch didn't just "luck into" the position they're in. They beat the team that should have been the Reagion 6 champions. They've proven that they have the talent. Say what you want about Gallatin being overrated, Ravenwood owned that game. The only touchdown that the defense gave was with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The one thing that I believe will tip this game one way or the other is who wants it more, and I've seen that all year from this Ravenwood team. They never quit. They just keep coming. They're the best 4 loss team I've seen in a while. Ravenwood 17 Antioch 13
  21. I bet two teams make it through the second round.
