  1. Two different philosophies and both are right depending on team. Clev chose to test themselves early scheduling two tough teams. The Owls on the other hand needed to build confidence coming off a tough year. Should be a great game, hope the Owls pull it out
  2. Can't remember score but Knox Catholic won something like 35-21
  3. 41-13 final EH could not handle speed of Owls. Next week will be real test.
  4. Hey TPoole good to see you are still hanging around CoachT. I too miss the old Region 2 days. We had some good smack talk back then that was mostly good natured. Hasn't been the same since the realignment. If you are going to make a Cherokees game come down on Sept. 16th when the Owls come to town. Maybe we can meet up for a hot dog or cold drink. I don't know how WB and Heritage could build a consistant program in your county with both Maryville and Aloca. There can only be so many atheletes to go around. The Owls have been hurt by the new school opening up, but if reports are correct from last nights scrimmage they might be on their way back. We will see once the real games start next week. Take care and hope to see you in September. HornedOwl
  5. Have not heard anything about this. Since my sons graduated I don't hear near as much. Details please.
  6. Thanks, that is better. Still hate the 5 away games in the middle of the season. Unless we don't play week 0 there will probably be an off week thrown in there also. Like every season can't wait until it starts. Any ideas on the talent level we should have?
  7. If I am reading this right this means another year of 6 away games and 4 home games. What do the coaches have against the football and band boosters and fans? If this is the order of games it stinks worse than last year. One home game in either late August or early Sept. and then not another until mid-october at best. Can we at least find a way to go back to 5 and 5.
  8. Does anyone know the schedule yet? Hopefully it will be a little more fan friendly than last years. Looks like a fair number have come out for spring practice. Saw some big boys when driving by. I think with a year under his belt coach williams will have a better year, at least I hope so.
  9. The problem with the Owls D is their inability to tackle. Last week they were in position to make several big plays behind the line of scrimmage or stop runs for little or no gain and the back slips through the arm tackle for big plays. Fix this and the Owls will be fine and challange most anyone. The Offense becomes very predictable. They need to spread it around a little more. The slant was open all last week and they only tried it twice. They missed the first time and connected the second for a long score. Don't know enough about Rhea to make a prediction. Just hope for a clean game with no injuries on either side. Go Owls
  10. A win would be great tonight to gain a little momentum going into district play. I think the Owls find some way to squeak out a win 24-21. Go Owls
  11. Not much to add from what others have said about the line play. I did think the Owls made some decent adjustmetns in the 2nd half. Inexpierence showed in both the coaching and players for the Owls. They shot themselves in the foot everytime they got into the red zone. False starts, ineligable receiver downfield etc. took points off the board. If you are being beaten physically which the Trojans did to us, you have to win with technique and timing. We did not seem to have enough of either for sustained drives. Learn from it and move on. Go Owls
  12. You know I actually liked the travel. The wife and I would leave early enough to find some nice eating establishment in the area of the game and talk with the locals. Now I eat at home and miss all the warm up. We also had some great battles here on CoachT. The Farragut or Oak Ridge fans would jump in and there would be several pages of smack. Now a lot of it was plain stupid but there were some knowledgeable fans for all the teams. Now we are lucky to get a page or 3 and hardly anyone discusses football. Good luck tonight and all season. Go Govs
  13. Good luck G-Men. I miss our old Region 2 battles. I don't like this new reallignment, but oh well you can't fight city hall.
  14. I think this is going to be a close one. The Owls have gotten some great expierence the last two weeks and learned how to win from behind (Tyner) and from in front (AE). Hope the rain holds off until after the game. I think the Owls will win by 3 in a back and forth game. Hope everyone is healthy at the end and don't forget to buy your band raffle tickets. $10k will go along way these days. Go Owls
  15. When and where is the McCallie scrimmage?
  16. So long Benny. Thanks for the great teams and the excitment on Friday nights. That 2006 team was fantastic and I hate we could not get over the hump at Smyna that night. Good luck in retirement and I hope you have a wonderful time with your family. Go Owls
  17. The TFP article is pretty definite about him not playing this week. While he was a big part of the D and some of the O, the rest of the team needs to step up. He can be a real leader if he helps motivate the team to win without him so that he can get back on the field for the next game. The best lessons in life are the hard ones, and I applaud Benny for making a stand. Go Owls
  18. Bummer, but as Red4Life says the rest of the team needs to step up. That is what they have been practicing for. I am still pulling for the Owls to win. I hope everyone comes out of the game healthy and the winning team should go deep in the play-offs. Go Owls
  19. Has anyone heard this officially from a coach at the school? I am not doubting the website referenced, but I was over at the school yesterday and heard nothing from the students and teachers I talked to. You would think news like this would be all over every where especailly if it happened Tuesday as reported. Either way Go Owls
  20. Man I love this trip down memory lane with old Region 2 rivals talking smack to each other. Predictions of blow outs etc. These new districts have caused some awful quiet threads in my opinion. I think bipbopzot hit the nail on the head, the game will be about the Owls Offense. If they show up and can produce in both running and passing then the Owls stand a real good chance of winning. If we have to depend on the run only and the D is on the field all night. The Ads might take it away in the 4th. Either way it is going to be a great game and I can't wait until Friday. Be careful on the way down folks, exit 11 is still a mess for another year. Come early and let's get the house rocking on both sides. This is the game the whole state will be watching, so let's make it an instant classic. Go OWLS
  21. Bearden at Sevier might produce it. What a brutal opening game. I don't know much about either team.
  22. We are going to be loud and proud on Friday night. Let's wear red all week. Hoping Bearden upsets Sevier and if we pull the W we will bet Bearden at home. Weather forcast for the week clear and cool with no rain all week so the field should be in it's best condition since August. Have a safe trip down Ads fans and remember that play off football kicks off at 7:00 not 7:30 or it used to. Who knows with the way T$$AA screws around with everything. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Owls
  23. You forgot about the funble that was not a fumble, and I wish I had as much back spin on my wedges as John Long had on his punts. Nothing seemed to work for the Owls Friday and yet it was still an OT game. Good luck McMinn in the playoffs. Hope to see you again, but I doubt it since you will have to go through Maryville after your Oak Ridge game which is not a gimme.
  24. Region 2 reunion week. Funny I felt all along that we would end up meeting in the playoffs. Just didn't think it would be in first round. Owls have got to generate some consistant offense. Also hope some of the breaks can go our way this week. Looking forward to Friday night for another Farragut/Ooltewah battle. Go Owls
