  1. ONE GAME AT A TIME! Playoff time, anything can happen!
  2. Dude chilll, simply having a little fun, i didn't know you band guys get so worked up over a Game that y'all got beat in every facet of the game. y'all were a very well coached and organized team but speed kills and you know the rest :0)
  3. I was awoke this morning to the groans of an animal in distress. When I open my front door there layed a dirty ole egg sucking bulldog. Looked light he had been in a fight and lost and had been recently neutered (like in the last 24 hours). He is gray with a purple collar and a bone shaped tag with a big " M " on it. He needs medical attention quick if y'all know who he belongs to.
  4. South Gibson you've done it! Once you beat the Milan Bulldogs they won't play you any more!
  5. Your right, they make no sense and missed a real opportunity to serve their community. Of course for us locals, we're use to it. But if you call and ask why, you get a way out in left field response and the station is in COVINGTON, not brighton or munford or ripley or millington. Yikes!
  6. I bet you played a mean flute standing on the 45! If it wasn't a tough game why does OC have all those ice troughs, now it's real obvious you wore black socks to p.e.
  7. I agree but as classy as Obion people were, we won't get that next week in Milan but I will say it's a great place to experience a win! We use to play them before they were in the same district but when we beat em they didn't want to play with us anymore. Their not very nice when you beat them. But Friday night will be big and Covington will have to bring their A game to come out of there with a win!
  8. Brother ya'll served up a big ole slice of humble pie, but it did cause a refocus and they went all the way that year and lost in the championship game.
  9. Obion vrs Covington! Wow what a game! one of the best games I've seen in years. I will also add that the Obion people were classy as always. I will not get on here and blast your sons on either team because being a Dad of a football player and I actually played the game, I realize how bad these losses hurt. It's pretty obvious on here sometimes who has never crossed a white line on a football field except in a band uniform!I'm a Charger and proud to be but this was a game we'll talkabout for a long time. I didn't see any quit on either team. The RB #21 for Obion was very impressive, where will he be playing on Saturdays? IMO I think Covington was a tad bit more phyiscal on both sides of the ball was the difference. I do think we will see each other again and I can't wait. That's the kind of game that makes Friday night, FRIDAY NIGHT!
  10. Obion Central has always played us tough regardless of records. I remember being ranked in top 5 in the state a few years ago and went up there and got our butts handed to us. So Chargers better buckle down tight and be ready for a hard fought game because there aint no quit in them Rebels. Alaways has been one of my favorites places to play and watch high school football in West Tn.People there have always been classy in both victories and defeats. However I will not attempt to predict a score on what 15-18 year old boys are gonna do. I look for a great ball game and I'm gonna get there early and get me seat. I don't think OCC has been tested yet like Covington has so I think that will be the difference, look for a close one. Can't wait!
  11. He's would probably be expensive beause it's been a while since we've had a RB of his calibur. Good Luck to the Rebels.
  12. It hard for ya'll to compare to Tipton County because population wise we are so much bigger. However we do have a newly started pee wee football program but all the towns, Munford, Crestview (covington) brighton all have there own jr.high school football programs. We (Covington) don't particularly agree with the constant changing of zones to take athletes away from Covington and give to brighton of course that a whole other discussion. However the brighton powers to be don't like it when Covington is successful. So see it's every where! :0))))
  13. Rebel fans, I've read most of your posts and completely understand your postion on wanting to be more competitive. We at Covington are feeling some of the same pains you are. However sitting on the opposing sidelines every week I get a full concept on what is going on with these kids. It's usually pretty ugly and not very becoming of trying to shape these boys into men. However at the Obion Central game this was not the case. These kids responded yes sir, no sir, very respectable and I don't remember ever hearing a single cuss word throughout the game. So my point is this: As much as you have that appears to be going wrong the most important parts, you have are going right. Why winning is very important the life lesson thses boys are learning will far out weigh a win loss record 10 years from now.
  14. Chargers were improved Friday night against Jackson South Side. Very crisp and sharp in the first quarter. The thing I don't understand about the Chargers is, it seems every week they grab momentum and the coaching staff calls something to kill it. For third time this season they have called for an onside kick after scoring and it absolutely kills Moe. Because you give field position away, Or going for it on 4th and long Once you get across the 50. "Coach" it aint nothing wrong with punting and making something happen on defense. I also don't understand how they can have a soccer program and not find somebody to kick extra points, I thought that was the reason for a soccer program. Make an announcement at school, do something to get a kicker! You'll need it if they make the playoffs. It will be interesting Friday night @ Covington. Covington is improving but still a long way from playoff type team but even in Covington's hay day for whatever reason Obion had their number. Obion will be well coached and fundamentally sound and they come to play. It will be a close ball game and whom ever wants it the most and doesn't turn the ball over will win!
  15. Crockett Co. will beat them like a rented mule!
  16. IMO, Covington's line play is their weakest link. They have speed but line stands around and watches a lot. With the exception of #54, who stays busy between whistles, he's not getting a lot of help. I think if that line would get after some people and get down field good things will happen. You have to work from whistle to whistle to bust them long runs. They have speed if they get to the corner, problem is they are not getting there because of line play. There is some potential with Covington but doesn't seem to have been tapped yet. Let's go Chargers Ripley picked YOU for their homecoming! let's make them re-think that one.
  17. I thought the offensive line play for Covington was awful with the exception of #54, who stayed busy between whistles. I primarly watch line play and there was a lot of watching the ball from o-line when that happens we're not gonna bust many long runs. #73 has potental but takes too many plays off, particularly on offense. O-line needs to be more intense and get after people bewtween whistles. 2nd week in a row we have had momentem killers after we have grabbed mo and set him on our side. The on-side kick was pivoital in my opinion because we never recovered from it although the bad snapp on the punt pretty much killed us for the night. There was improvement, tackling was much better, pass defense was better. Alot to build on for next week! Munford was improved and thought the QB had a great night form what I was told was a back-up, he can eat at my table any day of the week. Their #25 RB had some impressive power runs. Was a good game with class shown on both sides.
  18. Westsports! you must have blown that trumpet really hard why you was in high school! because it's pretty obvious you've never crossed a white line on a football field or you have some substance abuse problem. Question: Did you wear dark socks to pe class?
  19. I got to agree here although not a Tomcat. I've thought over the past three or four years that Haywood doesn't play up to the potential of the athletes they have. They always seem to come out of the gate slow and then by the end of the season they'll make a run to the playoffs. It will interesting to see who is the Offensive Coord.
  20. No, I was mutual- But I do remeber this type of stuff before after a DC basketball game. This was not the first time. With all due respect it's not like DC is the athletic promise land, they are certianly much more prominent now than in years past I guess that's why a little success goes a long way. My point was only that adults need to show some class on both sides so that the kids will see how to respond.
