  1. Cascade11 were you at the game tonight?
  2. A great win on the Mountain for the Eagles. I think the score was 72 to 58. I heard that Baker had 28 and Smith had 21. They have been a great combo for several years now. I am glad to see other players stepping up and adding some big baskets. Cascade is a better team than their record reflects, I know that they have lost some games big this year but they play hard and never think the game is over. I hope they do well the rest of the season and into the tournament because they are well disciplined and are well coached. We have had some good games against them over the last 3 years.
  3. We do have some good players on this team. Thanks for the compliment. Where are you from?
  4. You probably already know by now Sledgehammer but VB won by 10. We was behind the first half but turned it around in the third. To much Smith down low and Baker outside. I think both of them ended up with 26 a piece. Forrest is a good team that has lost alot of close games. They are a team you better not under estimate as you already know. That was a long trip, with a pretty good ending. See you at homecoming.
  5. Were you even at the game? He did have a poor shooting performance from what all VB fans are used to seeing. Maybe he can turn that around in the next match up.
  6. How is this award decided? Is it decided on stats or is it just a popularity contest or does someone go around looking for great ball players? I know that the further a team goes into the post season the more they get seen by others but it is an individual award not a team award. So how do you pick a player out and say this one is better and this one is second? I have seen a couple of ball players that I think are stand outs but I haven't seen many of the ones that are already listed on this board.
  7. Some big games yet to be played. What four teams will advance to the Regions? ecu is correct VB has good guard play and Baker isn't a true point guard. He runs the point at times and does well but his game is on the wing shooting and slashing to the basket. He is an all around player. Smith is a dominating post, I haven't seen a post that is better than him this year.
  8. Darrin Baker from Van Buren had a nice dunk against Tennessee Temple. Went down the lane with a defender on him and threw it down.
  9. It was a good game even though we lost. It's hard to handle when you lead pretty much the entire game and then loose. We had a good lead on Pickett several times and they came back. I think these two teams match up pretty well. How many did Baker and Smith have? I heard the Hillis boy dislocated his thumb for VB, is there any update on him? Maybe we can return the favor to them at Pickett.
  10. Thanks. Maybe we can face them again this year, it sounds like a good match up for Baker.
  11. What position does the transfer from Brentwood play?
  12. Maybe someone in D-9 can give NCS some competetion. They put us out of the regions the last two years in the first round. I knew they would be tough but I thought they lost their best player last year. D-9 seems to have maybe 6 teams that could slip up and beat anyone else in the District. I will give the top two spots to Eagleville and Van Buren at this point. I would say the last two spots are up for grabs between Forrest, Cascade, Community, and MTCS. Of course all this could change in a few games.
  13. You guys are in a tough District aren't you? I don't know about non district games but I can say that it seems to me you guys lost some players in a few key positions last year. Maybe you will turn it around. Good luck. Oh yeah I don't even live in Bledsoe, but I hope you guys win every game except VB.
  14. They are pretty quick and they have the desire to win. They have bad spurts in a game like most other teams do but if they are hitting their shots they are tough to beat. I can say one thing about Cascade that I think is their best quality: They are well coached and spend time preparing for their opponent. Sometimes they let the game get away but if you are not careful they will shoot their way back into the game. Don't let the big losses to some of the quality teams fool you. I hope they win since they are in our district but you are my second pick. LOL Hopefully it will be a good game but it looks like you guys have it going at this time. Good luck to you both.
  15. I don't know if the District is as tough as it has been the past few years. But you have VB sitting at around 9 and 1 and Eagleville not far off from that. The teams I have seen from the District have been pretty good MTCS plays well and so does Community. Maybe it is just these teams are getting stronger than in the past. I still believe we are going to do well in the Regions this year and maybe further.
  16. No problem, I understand where you are coming from. We do need to deal with our problems before we get into a hole we can't dig out of. It is nothing a quality win won't take care of. Maybe we can correct these things and win like we are capable of.
  17. Woodenfan The post wasn't aimed at you. It applies to everyone though including me. I sit in the stands and hear the comments, I see the frustration on the faces, I see the disappointment on the teams faces when they don't perform like they are capable of, and I feel for them. I don't even see doing something if the best effort is not put forth, but the things in your initial post are mostly fundamentals that these girls should already know by now. You speak about preparing, count how many kids that are in the gym on the off season or when the team doesn't have a game and it is opened for them, I would say there isn't many there. I think you are correct when you quoted Coach Wooden by saying failing to prepare is preparing to fail, that belongs to everything we do. Shouldn't they already know this? I wish some people would stop pointing fingers and support this team. How many people do you think wants to write something that doesn't even go to the games. These girls have talent but it must be their decision to end this and make everyone smile again. Go Eaglettes By the way I am not content with us not playing to our potential, I like the way you cut out that one part to make me look like the bad person. I go to every game and support both the boys and girls, I even support our Cheerleaders. I don't think it is good that we get on here and bash coaches and hurt feelings of people we are around these kids pick up on things like that and it only makes things worse.
  18. Eagleville may be hard to beat. I am looking forward to our matchup with them. In the mean time we have business to tend to just keep winning boys.
  19. I thought it was a good game also. I wasn't paying attention to the push at half court that seventies eagle referred to, I did see where a boy slung his elbows on tight coverage and I yelled for an offensive foul. I don't think it was a dirty game though just trying to clear a board. I beleive we had chances to open it up at times but just didn't close them out like we should have. I am sure the Community fans saw opportuinities for them to close back in at times also. I Think Community will beat some teams this year that won't expect it. I hope VB plays like they are capable of playing and takes the whole deal. Good luck to everyone.
  20. We can do better, I just posted on the boys forum about these same circumstances. I am not a basketball wizard or anything, and like everyone else I just have opinions. I do know one thing that applies in all aspects of life a house divided can not stand. We can turn this around, and I say we have the potential to be in the mix but only if the parents believe, the kids believe, and the coachs believe. Coach Sullivan has his hands full with the boys he doesn't need any more food on his plate. Girls just make a decision to turn this around and get them heads out of the dirt. We are better than this, but we as parents and fans is making it very difficult for this team to win. Most of our girls that get playing time are Juniors and Seniors they should already be motivated and to come prepared. Last night our girls missed a lot of shots right under the basket, this is a mental break down, I don't see anyone correcting this except them. If you don't believe in anything else, believe in each other and always back your team up. Basketball means nothing, it is just something to do that you enjoy while preparing for the real deal. (Life) As long as someone comes prepared to play and puts forth an effort they should not be so hard on themselves. I love to watch these girls and I support them 100%, I wish things were better for them.
  21. Community is better this year, maybe it is because they had a very young team last season. I know they are still young this year and come next year and maybe the end of this year they will be tough to beat. I like the energy their new coach has, he seems to get alot out of his players who by the way has talent. It is sad when a coach whoever it is, gets caught up in the politics of an administration and looses his job. I think this is a problem at most every school half the fans don't like the coach and the other half does, it can get ugly at times. I know that when this type of discord begins it kills a team that has potential. Parents and fans should never talk bad about a coach in front of players because it has a snowball effect and the team will be split. The new coach will have to deal with the same problem when he doesn't play someones kid who knows someone who knows someone. It is very sad when the administration gets involved and starts telling the coach who to play and such. I think that being a coach would be a stressful job and I have the upmost respect for anyone who will step out there and take the heat and make the decisions that is best for their school and stand up and say I am going to do it my way. Even though it means certain termination of his job. Let the kids play the game and the coach run the team and everything would be a lot better. If the coach isn't any good get rid of them, but do it because it will better the kids, and do it the right way. Same old song isn't it.
  22. Who won the Eagleville and Cascade game? Any details?
  23. What are thoughts on the match ups Friday night? Cascade vs Eagleville Community vs Van Buren
  24. I agree Sledgehammer. I am a little spoiled myself even on bad nights Baker and Smith plays good and we probably would have a hard time without them. I would hate to go up against this kind of talent and I am glad both of them are on our team. They both are good examples of what a ball player should be, we are truley blessed to have these two and all the others we have on our team. We have good boys playing for us, last night when one of our boys would foul and knock a Cascade player down we would help them up. This shows respect for other players. I hope we can go to Community and get a win Friday night, they are sold on their team over there.
  25. I am sorry Sledgehammer Jogles is correct VB did come out smoking and were up 10 to nothing I must have been at another game. Cacade fought back and took the lead I beleive in the second. I was kind of stunned that they came back as quick as they did. Number 14 can light it up for Cascade, he is an athlete. It was a great game. What happened in the Moore County game? I don't see anyone in single A beating you by thay many.
