  2. Wow.....that 2004 record was very impressive; they had a total of 8 shutdowns (a safety away from 9) that is awesome. I do remember watching the championship game that year on UPN and that was probably the most athletic team I have ever seen in TN.

I said they were not as good as Alcoa so your "speed alone does not win games" comment was unwarranted and trust me Springfield has as much speed and talent as alot of the better teams in the state. They just dont always have that talent used the best way so they dont always excel like they should.
  4. That is just it; having played at Springfield I have both played against and seen them play many times. Even the best teams they have ever had would not have been called extremely fast but they still seem to play well against teams that are extremely fast. I do see your point though; I could see it going the way you mentioned but I also would not be suprised if WH pulled it out either. On a side note, even though Springfield may not be as good as Alcoa they do have similar speed year in year out; anyone who plays them on a yearly basis will testify to that. I mentioned this b/c they are on WH's schedule also.
  5. Also from Jo Byrns besides Shane Spann at QB; Orlando Taylor flying in under the radar. Didnt play much last year at TB b/c they had an experienced starter; if more people knew his potential he would be mentioned more here.

  9. There have been plenty of players get over looked b/c they didnt get enough exposure; not saying it will happen to Marco but I think that factor hurts him more than his size does.

Could be the year to win it all provided they beat MP 7 Hampton 0 : Tough team but have trouble against more athletic teams in the play-offs 8 Union City 0 : Usually good athletes just not always consistent 9 McKenzie 0 : Do well until they play the top tier teams in the play-offs 10 Trinity Christian 0 : : Dont know much about them

I was actually refering to all of the local news stations I mean think about; where are most of the reporters at when they are showing scores to games on the news......GP, DL, CPA, BA, and plenty more that I am not going to name at this time. I am not putting the blame on anyone, that is just the way it is.
  12. I did not mean everyone; but when I was playing football in HS my activity level was through the roof. So I could pretty much eat as much of whatever I wanted; I should have said that as long as you have a high activity you can eat anything and not worry about it. Of course there are those young guys who have weight probs and have to change their diet; this is specifically in the off-season.....especially if they dont play any other sport.
  13. I really didnt take offense; I understand the points you made and most of it is pretty close to what I said from just paying attention in class. I do enough research as is which is why I didnt go looking this stuff up. That is also why I recommended people to do their own research and make their own decision b/c like I said......I am no expert.
  14. I know you probably didnt mean for it to sound that way; but this is kind of offensive. I used "hoopla" b/c it is alot of info that I probably will not need in my field but still had to sit through the class and hear it all. I just am not going to sit here and ring off all of those big terms to make myself sound intelligent.
  15. I for one dont put as much stock in size as alot of people here. If you can play you can play; unfortunately, being in 1A will hurt him more than his size. 1A just does not get enough exposure unless you are a private school.

  20. I got my info about creatine from one of my instructors who has his doctrine so I felt he was a pretty reliable source. I have just had a couple of anatomy classes back to back so I have heard the exact same thing about creatine synthesizing the ATPs and all of that hoopla. The protein naturally repairs the muscles but not at an excelerated rate; so I stand by what I said that you get more than enough from a normal diet. I am not by any means an expert; my primary focus is not on personal nutrition or training or anything like that. This is what I have been taught so I am gonna close my argument right there; I am not claiming to be right or wrong but just b/c the label says something does not mean it is right.
  21. Not saying they shouldnt drink them just that they dont need them like the manufactures want them to believe. I mean it is not going to hurt them or anything like that; if they mentallly believe that it makes them a better player, stronger, or whatever go ahead its not gonna hurt them. Supplement manufactures are not governed by the FDA so they can make claims that are exagerated and not get penalized in any way. Now Creatine which I am not sure what it claims to do, but it is benefical in that it repairs your muscles after working-out (lifting weights) at a quicker rate than at a normal level. This means you dont have to rest the muscles as long b/4 working those same muscles again. Most of the other supplements are just a hoax; I am sorry if I upset anyone who uses them. The best thing I can tell you to do is do research b/4 you spend your hard earned money on these things. When I say research, I dont mean from one source because some of them can tend to be bias so check several studies that were conducted from several sorces and compare them. Most of the time if you are seeing improvement in your image, strength, or speed it is b/c you busted your butt; not b/c you are taking supplements. If you start taking something and notice an abnormal change at a very quick rate you are probably taking some type of steroid; pretty much the supps. you take that actually do something you are not suppose to take.
  22. As a student at APSU and this involving the area that I am majoring in this issue has come up multiple times in our classes. The answer to the question is unless they just simply have some kind of wierd diet where they never eat or drink milk, eggs, cheese, or many other foods that contain protein they get more than enough in their normal diet. Also especially if they play football w/ the exception of a few of them there matabolisms are at its peak so burgers, pizza, pasta, and all of the other popular unhealthy foods will not hurt them. In fact they probably need the energy that they are getting from those foods b/c football takes it out of you. Chances are they are going to work it all back off very quickly; when I was that age I ate like a hores and never gained an ounce, now I think about a piece of fried chicken and gain 5 pounds.
