You're a better man than me, Pujo. I spend some time around several ex-Cyclone players and coaches. Granted most of them are from back in the day (late 70's and early 80's) but to hear little comments and such they make about all County schools really gets my BP up. Used to really fire me up when a couple of them were coaching at county schools (way after their "glory" years at ol' Betsy) and would talk about the current team (I'll be around them Saturday and will get 'em started and take notes!) I want to think they are doing it just to get me fired up but I know better. I think most people from Ol' Betsy really believe they are superior and deserve more than county schools (Lawnman and a few others being the exceptions... y'all seem like good guys). I could care less if they win another game ever.

And another closely related legacy may be the transfer of the current Sullivan North High and Middle schools building to Kingsport City Schools for use as a city middle school. “We can’t keep living in the past,†BOE member Randall Jones said Monday. “We’ve got to move to the future or at least the present.†Vice Chairman Jack Bales of Sullivan Gardens said the system simply can’t offer the same range of programs at the 500-student North High as it does in other high schools. The Board of Education Monday night voted 4-2 with one absent to recommend the adoption of a plan to close Sullivan North, South and Central high schools as early as 2019 after building a new 1,700-student high school with, among other things, state-of-the-art career technical education offerings.

Carter County could learn a thing or two from the SCBOE.

Has next year's schedule been set?? I'd heard a rumor about playing a really LOCAL team. Did that pan out?

I agree. I still say if you'd give me CLoudland and Hampton THIS YEAR with Coach Lunsford I'd play anybody in 2A and 3A. May not beat Alcoa but we'd scare the pants off them!!!!!

Did y'all see Fritz' weekly cloumn this week? Pretty good analysis of why Maryville is so good year after year (looks like he got it from a Knoxville Sports Writer). Readers Digest condensed version: 40 percent (coaching staff): "Most ex-head coaches with a ton of knowledge." 25 percent (community support/feeder programs): "the community supports the younger programs and makes sure they are done the right way". 20 percent (skilled athletes): "Maryville doesn’t overwhelm opponents with a parade of Division I athletes". Side Note: This one surprised me but I looked up MHS roster.... they don't have tons of "Bigs" like you think and haven't sent as many to D1 as you'd think. 15 percent (tradition): "They grow up in an environment where they expect to win championships" Honestly..... how do you think Hampton and Cloudland relate to these.

Best high school game I've seen in a long time. I thought Cloud land actually outplayed the Dawgs....just had a couple bad mistakes. Whitehead is a beast! Hey Fritz....if he ain't your player of the week and anything else you can 'award' him, you need to stop writing your weekly column! I'll say this...... give me the top 12 off each team with Coach Lunsford and 1 month for him to get em ready and I'd call anybody around and tell them 'bring it on, we'll whip that butt".

Is Carter County open enrollment?? I've always thought you could go to any of the high schools starting as a freshman. Maybe I don't know what open enrollment exactly means

A little off-topic but did everybody read the weekly JC Press "Ode To Elizabethton Football" column disguised as Frtiz's weekly football update? I sure miss ol' Tim Chambers!!!

I love watching baseball. That's all I ever did growing up... pee - wee, little league, babe Ruth, high school... even tried it a couple days in college. Now I wished I'd played football. I remember JC and Dog getting all the football and basketball players together and asking who all was playing baseball. They'd look around and say OK, the rest of you are running track!! baseball is a great sport. More kids should give it a try. Good for their overall health to be outside getting exercise and eating seeds!!!

I almost got fired during the 4th quarter... accidently let a couple naughty words slip and was questioned what I was doing. Funny story.... one guy came over asked what I was doing so i told him. His response: " be a good time to rob a store over there. The entire population of Hampton, all 75 of them, are at the game". I politely told him he was #1 Anyways.... see all you DAWG fans tomorrow. Save me a seat!! WE ARE H-TOWN!!!!!!!

FYI - Per TSSAA website: Voted to table Proposed Change in Article I, Section 3 from Trousdale County & Lewis County and voted to create a Study Committee to help gather additional information regarding this proposal.
