  1. I did not get to come to this game but I understand it was like two different games from having talked to folks who were there. I have always said Lockhart could take over games anytime she wanted, she will have to want to this year. The younger players are stepping up. This is a good team people, no longer trying to keep one or two players happy during a game, just playing together as a team. They will lose a few(and have, to AAA schools), but I believe they will be more than ready at tourney time. Showed some heart, coming back. Good to know they can do that. Can you say "confidence builder"? They know they can come back now, too!
  2. There was a thread started when she committed verbally. Maybe Indian just thought that was enough.
  3. I know RBS is a good team but Seq. Co. (even with the quitters gone) will not be a pushover. I know Indian thinks we can't survive w/out those missing pieces. Many others think differently. The atmosphere is much lighter w/out all the drama. The girls that stayed are adjusting to reality and will acquit themselves well. In the long run, the team will survive and be better off. Would have lost 'em all next year anyway- might as well get used to being w/out some now!
  4. To the poster that had to make a comment on Katherine's mom being the coach- You should be ashamed of implying she was easier on her daughter and helped her out. Katherine works hard, is talented, and deserves to play on the next level. Her family has given up summers to make sure she played where she needed to to get seen. Any player that wants to be looked at should have taken Coach Barker's advice and NOT taken the summer before their senior season off! As a coach, Coach Barker has done what she could to get folks looked at- the rest is up to the family and the player. That's just the way it is. All this BS about how the coach wasn't doing enough to get players looked at is just sour grapes from people who know less than I do about it and I don't know much! Dumptrucker- I don't see that Seq. Co. would have done as well with Kat's minutes limited. Who would you have in there? Who is being held back? No one! How far does the team go without Barker? Not far! And just wait, a new Barker is on the horizon, a meaner version of our Kat. By meaner I mean more willing to mix it up and less willing to take crap off people! Katherine is too nice most of the time. Something she will have to get over when she plays at TTU!
  5. I believe York is in for a shock. McMinn Central is very quick and can shoot the lights out. Fundamentally very sound. Probably the best free throw shooting team I have seen in a while and can hit from anywhere on the floor off the dribble. Tough defense too, pretty good hands and can box out. Know their rebound areas well. If Seq. Co. could have gotten on the boards better and not thrown away some passes the score might have been different. But you have to give props to McMinn's defense because they caused the troubles. Shut down our 3 pt. shooters and our post player. Lockhart carried the team most of the night until a questionable charge call midway through the 4th quarter(I thought she walked before the call!) fouled her out. Barker hit two key threes that kept us in the game but McMinn went to holding the ball and we were just too worn out from fighting back from a deficit to really get after 'em at that point. With Lockhart on the bench and Barker playing with 4 fouls, we just couldn't get all the way back. McMinn can put a run on you too- get a steal, hit a layup, cause a turnover, hit a 3. All night long! Penetrate draw a foul AND hit the basket. Just a real good team. So I am pulling for them 'gainst York. I will be in Baxter pulling for the Lady Indians on Sat. night, good Lord willin' and the creeks don't rise!
  6. I do know that Coach Barker at Seq. Co tries to schedule strong opponents for her team and does, but the district games have not always been much of a problem for her team. This can be a problem come tourney time and she is well aware of this. So her players are expected to play as hard as they can as long as they are on the court. This has resulted in some "blowout" scores. The real test in the district should come from a very much improved and scary Howard team. Chatt. Christian and Grundy have also improved a bunch. And Bledsoe Co. played even with Seq. Co. the first half of the game Friday night. Got a couple of girls with excellent shots, but didn't take care of the ball well- can't pass over Lockhart or Barker- they will take it almost every time!
  7. Katherine should have 1000 points before her high school career is over. She is running the point most of the time and this means she is more concerned with finding her open players than taking her shot. She has a sweet one though! I do not know how close she actually is to 1000 points, anybody got an idea?
  8. Well, I was at the regionals last year and I feel that Sequatchie gave McMinn Central all they wanted. One or two calls that I didn't agree with(but I was not the ref-so it doesn't matter) and a shot missed by McMinn or one made by Sequatchie-Sequatchie wins. That is why they play the games, to determine the champ. So lets play the games and find out who wins. Yes I am a Sequatchie fan but I like the way McMinn plays. Good ball is good ball.
  9. Nobody was not over looking bledsoe and nobody will be over looking them next year. All everyone is saying that you got the valley teams when they were down. They are not going to be down next year, and i hope you look at that stump everyday and wish that it will be there next year. Seq. will be the one over looked for going 0-10, but thats ok seq. actions next year will tell everyone how they felt about going 0-10.
  10. Grundy did do a great job. I was sitting in the middle of some McMinn parents(it was obvious) and they were freaking out that Grundy was even in the game, much less 10 points ahead at one time. I want to know who decided the Cleveland State gym was a good place to hold the games? There have to be better facilities out there. There wasn't enough seating and the lighting stinks! Once we found a place to sit we were afraid to go to the bathroom or concession because folks were hangin' 'round like vultures to get a seat. The only gym I have been in in the last 10 years that was worse is the one Whitwell middle school plays in. TSSAA needs to "vet" the facilities better. Oh yeah, gotta put in a plug for the Lady Indians. They never give up and they always believe they can win- proved it too last night!
  11. Okay, I guess I'm just stupid but I have never been to Cleveland State's campus. I am going there tonight and need GOOD directions from Dunlap. Understand that I have been to Cleveland and the route I take goes thru Dayton- I ain't a gonna drive thru Chatt town. It is my thought that the school is just off Paul Huff Parkway, am I close? Someone out there help me- I wasn't aware that I was going to make it to the game tonight until late yesterday so I am kinda getting desperate at this point!THANKS
  12. The jab about lack of class is uncalled for. There are many reasons for the margin of victory mostly 'cause no one could play with them. Game time is learning time and it is a bad precedent to ask your players to NOT play so hard. Get over it, Seq. has been on the other end of the butt whuppin' often enough. And will be again some day. That's the game.
