  1. Does anyone know why TSSAA.ORG list Perry Murphy as the head coach for every team?
  2. Tough is relative. He/she may be trying to say that there is more parity. Who knows?
  3. West hasn't ran the veer since Chrisman left, and I am pretty sure they haven't ran the Wing-t since Bragg stopped coaching. I am just not sure what you are talking about.
  4. Why wouldn't he apply? How does that effect DZ's credibility? He would be a great fit, and he seems to be as good a teacher as he is a coach. And, according to former players he is a good man. It would be a great catch for JC.
  5. As a coach, it's the dad that wants to talk to his kid right at the beginning of half-time over the fence or the guy I hardly know that sits behind my wife and discusses where he think I should go. As a fan, it is the guy that wants to talk to me as the ball is being snapped, or the parents that drop their kids off and drive away. As a parent, it is the parent that wants to call plays from the bleachers. I love the quiet dads that shake their sons' hands at the end of the game (or dads who give a hug...either way....) Those sons can't hear a word I say at the end of a game. They are wondering where their dad is.
  6. With the right personel, almost any front is successful. I like a 50 myself.
  7. I am happy for Coach Nelson and Sullivan Central. I think they will prove to be a good match. It will be interesting watching the Sullivan county teams play this year.
  8. Morristown West - Morristown East Austin-East - Fulton Maryville - Alcoa Oak Ridge - Dobbyns Bennett Sullivan South - Sull Central Bearden - Farragut
  9. When I read the thread title, those are the three names that came to mind. Good people.
  10. Knox West, Morr. East. I think both of those schools are overlooked because of schools like Central, Powell, and M. West. I honestly think some of the best football in the country runs from Chattanooga to Bristol. When I moved to Atlanta, I expected to football to be superior to TN football, but it is not. All I saw was a lot of wishbones and wing-ts.
  11. Yes sir, e-mail me at lcollins@jeffersonfederal.com That way we can spare everyone the reunion. I moved back to Knox, and would love to catch up with Moose.
  12. Lamar Brown - MW Chuck Proffitt - formerly at MW - now in Wake county, NC Morristown West is full of potential head coaches, i.e. Salanksy, etc. I would like to see him come back to the area. He would be a great fit for a number of Knox area Schools. I would also like to see Billy Seal at Morristown East get a shot. Sorry, my knowledge is limited to Hamblen County.
  13. I think Lamar Brown at MW does a good job with his guys. They struggled against MAryville, but that isn't an indicator of the overall job he does up in Morristown. Sorry I did not realize I Was in the 1a-3a board.
  14. Thanks for the correction. I have no idea why my fingers typed that. I attended the Pebblebrook game that they lost. East Paulding Schedule and Results
  15. He and the Raiders at East Pauldng advance to the semi finals with 35-28 defeat of Starr's Mill. They are 14-0.
  16. fyi for any interested parties, Coach Reid just won his 14th game and advances to the semi's with East PAulding. They beat Starr's Mill, 35-28. Congrats to Alcoa.
  17. Huge Crowd. I caught about four good matches. I enjoyed watching the 171 lb.er from Greeneville.
  18. Thanks. I enjoyed it. I haven't been in that gym in a while. It looks as though SH and DB faired pretty well. Thanks for the invite. I hope to see more.
  19. No, we moved to Knoxville in October. I plan on getting up that way. I am excited to get to see some TN wrestling. You all will have to help me catch up.
  20. I know for a fact that the assistant coach at SH is from a Nut farm. I wonder what his opinion would be about the poster who says East hasn't had a coach in decades. East's coach from the fall of '99 to the Spring of '01 was from the same nut farm. Do you ever wonder what he is doing now? On a serious note, Kiki Ramos was one of the toughest kids I have coached. He was only in the sixth grade at the time, but won the middle school conference(Hamblen, Greeneville, and Jeff county) championship at around 119. He is the kicker for M. West and a stand out soccer player, but I do not think he wrestles anymore.
  21. No, White SUV with Blues Clues playing on the DVD player. I took the kids.
  22. I am not sure why it is comical. What exactly is a vested interest? I am much more interested in the wrestling program, but I have followed SH football for about 22 years. I have competed against them, watched, clicked on TSSAA.org more times than I can count trying to find out the score. I just hope they improve and I happen to know Nelson and would like for him to have a shot at it. I would like to think that all teenagers have great role models at home. A coach that genuinely cares about the guys he coaches and the program in which he coaches, is special and rare. I would hesitate to underestimate the influence that a coach can have, but then again I have had some really special coaches. It doesn't have to be a powerful influence, but it certainly can be.
  23. I got lost too, but I accidently turned on Broadway and found it. MApquest had me going 321 N, then Houston, then Cedar.
  24. I guess it depends on what you use to measure a coach's effectiveness. Is the present coach taking them a little bit further than they should have gone? Is four of the last six years what SH should be doing? As far as East goes, Is Nelson taking them a little bit further than they should have gone? Of course he has. East should only win a couple of games a season. One also has to take into consideration what kind of impact a coach can make on the lives of young people aside from winning and going to the playoffs. I am thinking that Nelson can garner a couple of wins a season that SH would not otherwise win, and he will make the kind of committment that might change a young man's life.
