I would call being 2 outs away from first ever state championship a complete choke. That's my opinion tho. Please note I was severely disappointed for the girls and our county. So close, I was rooting for MC all the way. However I can tell you of a time just a few years back when aville was in state champ football game in back to back years when it's rumored alumni, coaches, parents from Mchs had viewing parties rooting against aville. Such class. As for Lott another 20 win season down the drain!!! Out coached again in post season. This time he had home court advantage all the way to the 'boro. Show me another 400 win coach without state championship, chandler at Scotts hill would have won it several times if he coached Mcnairy. Great coach.

What an idiot, I didn't go to Chester co. And Fayette Ware will Whoop dat arse when hodum whips em into shape. Fayette ware is the best job in the state if you want to take a talented base that hasn't had any success and create something special. Ray Charles said it before he passed. I listened intently cheering for them, no lie. 2 outs away and couldn't close the deal. Idk about your baseball team I don't keep up with it, good job tho if district champ is all your after. All I know when I went and played blue we were 7-1 against em.

Went there, played there, beat mcnairy at everything. It was just another win for us. It was devastating to the blue squad. We had bigger goals than cross county rivals. I understand the district rivalry now, but when not in same district blue is just another game.

Got to chime in here....show me any other coach in the nation with 800 plus career wins that does Not have a handful of state championships! You can't do it. There is only 1 coach who exists who has that many meaningless wins without the 1 that counts. The "red" team doesn't measure itself against the "blue" team. If the "Blue" team could win state and finish 30-1 with the one loss being to the "red" team, the season would be a failure for the "blue" team. Not so with "red" team. They don't care as much about blue and blue cares about them. Period.

Agreed, that was costly for y'all. I was strictly speaking of the opportunity lost by Aville. If u look at it. Run 1 play, get into 4th qtr a couple minutes, hopefully score. Would have been hard for Y'all down 14-0 with 10 min. Left, alas It didn't happen.

A little disappointed in the play clocks not working and the 2:00 plus debacle. I can understand it but Peabody facility is so well put together. I'm not sure the right time was put back on clock. Anyhow Peabody up until the last play was a one man show and I mean that in a positive way for you guys. QB was STUD! Couldn't stop him. Will Aville ever have such a qb? Idk. Would be nice. Turning point in this one hold Peabody on downs with 28 sec left in 3rd at peabodys own 35-40 yard line. What does Aville do? Carry the ball haphazzardly and fumble it back on first play. Opportunity lost. This fan is tired of the high rankings and the hype. We are the 90's Atlanta braves but with no championship.

He's had plenty of teams that could have went to state and possibly won it. He doesn't adapt in post season. Good coaches change things up in post season based on what they saw in regular season from opponents. I've watched him coach for 30 years. Great regular season coach, horrible post season coach. Name me 1 other 800 plus win coach that doesn't have a state championship on resume? You can't do it.

Both teams will have to throw some new wrinkles in this week. Peabody deep ball and spot passing was nice but I expect Aville to have a plan for that. Aville offense was one dimensional last time flat like a pair of non pleated khakis. Must throw the jab, the uppercut, the hook, the straight right, in combinations can't just jab with running game all night.

I'm ok with a bend but don't break mentality when your playing a good team who can mix up the run/ pass like y'all Peabody did. It appeared that way from sideline but you guys like you say prob just stalled out inside red zone and it wasn't as much about not breaking as I thought. The wet field def. had a lot to do with it. You are correct Aville was 1 dimensional and cannot be in the playoffs. I hear several are banged up and may not play this week. To which I say it wouldn't surprise me if this were the end of the run. We got to toughen up and play thru pain because for 99.5% of the seniors this could be their last ever game. Got to be curt schilling bloody sock kinda bold. Peabody absolutely stuck the dagger in Aville on the spot passTD to the Lamborghini at wideout and the go route TD to same super car I think. Those two plays broke our back. Peabody adjusted at halftime we didn't appear to. Maybe, maybe see ya next week! Good game.

Bittersweet night for Aville but what a fight it was. Aville was not good on the edges (defensively).This year from what I have seen they are speedier and aggressive on the edge and up middle they are solid. I had almost written this year off and then it was like a light switch got turned on and the guys started jelling and the little mistakes took care of themselves. Just hope the light switch stays on for 6 more weeks.

I like being the underdog and keeping our dogs hungry. I'll take every pick against us, fuels the fire. Truth is Peabody will expose everything they have to win, which will hurt them in playoffs if they do (film wise). Aville will be ok either way but a little payback for '14 would be nice. I remember it well. It was a cold, very cold, windy night. Wind blowing right to left on visitor sideline estimated 15 mph. Windchill mid to upper 20's maybe 30's. score 26-6 at the half Aville. Move the chains in second half and walk to gold ball next week. Wasn't to be. Peabody adjusted and got the breaks they needed and pulled off a big win. Lots of great Aville players ended their h.s. careers there hoping for a 3rd chance at gold. The returned kickoff instead of a safe squib kick was the turning point. Aville decided to go w east west back who laid it on the ground to seal it instead of north south guy who was fresh. Couldn't go east west on Peabody then. Alas, you live you learn and you try to not make same mistakes. Should be a good one.

It's a shame for anyone of these top 5 teams to miss postseason.

Crazy that Peabody can go from out of playoffs to #2 seed, and Aville can go #4 or #1. Parity I guess.

Let's be real honest, seeding don't matter in the end. The best team wins out. If I'm (Aville) and I'm a fan, I'm playing my best ball now and I don't really care if I'm #1 or #4. Sure #1 might!! (Not last year) get you a first round but no guarantee. Why not play the toughest team from other region, try to knock them off then have it a little easier the rest of way. I know Aville lost to TCA and there would be no guarantees but if Aville plays mistake free or almost mistake free ball they are gonna be an extremely hard out on west side of 2a. No disrespect to any other 2a west tn team, but last year Aville was hurt and wasn't peaking this year so far healthy, deep, and peeking could make for interesting November.

Scotts hill played extremely balanced on offense and tough on defense. Short passing game has always hurt Aville. Lots of crosses and short post ups, mixed in with occasional long ball. Aville picked off two and got hands on several more but it did not phase Scotts hill qb or play calling. They came to win and drove 93 yards on last drive to get it done. Congrats to them. i don't think Aville played well or at least didn't match intensity that the hill brought. they deserve to move on and should do well. Good luck.

i can appreciate mcnairy's posts not so much for macnarry. These kids today don't see each other or the programs as rivals. It's the older generation who has ruined a healthy rivalry by being jealous and accusing one of wrong doing when it's just out working.

As you have said in the past, Aville football is all Mcnairy co has going for it. These people probably Google Mcnairy co and the first thing that pops up is Aville football in the news statewide bc of success. We don't care where they come from if they got heart and talent they are on the field. Daddy ball got Mcnairy to where it is now. Go to downtown Selmer and stop in an office or two and thank the daddy responsible for your programs demise. If he's got heart but no talent and has the right daddy he is mchs Qb. And if the coach won't put him at qb, fire the coach till you find one that will. Daddy ball = bad for program. Talent based system= 2 state championship appearances, 4 straight semi final appearances, numerous region titles, #1 team in state ranking. Let the coaches coach, the players play, and keep your mouth and opinion off Aville posts. I posted Dburg at Mcnairy topic on 4a board bc no one from Mcnairy wants to talk about a game if it doesn't involve middle college or Bruceton. Lol. Don't forget everyone can make reservations for dinner for 8:15-8:30 cause it's gonna be quick this week on the hill.

If !!!! adamsville is fortunate enough to get there, it will be at trezevant, if trezevant makes it there. hopefully we can all be healthy and give them all we got.
