  1. I can appreciate what you are saying aj1133, wives do want to protect their husbands. She needs to become a little more thick skinned, if she is going to make it as a coach's wife. There are probably more coaches on here with aliases than we will ever know. I finally got out of coaching and my marriage has been much happier ever since. Good Luck to you, your wife, and to Harpeth.
  2. Junkins was a very successful coach at Harpeth, until administration allowed parents to run the program. He took a 500 team to one of the most respected teams in the state. Northeast was bettered when he came on board. To have Junkins and Martin on the same staff helped put this team where it was. I'd say by looking at your posts "pick-n-roll" you are a Harpeth fan, since that is where most of your posts come from. Are you trying to get one more barb into Coach Junkins? I'd guess alot of teams would like to see their team in this kind of "ruin".
  3. I agree with wareagleblue, ask for administrations help if nothing is done move on. Many more coaches than what the public might think have to play certain players because of who their parents are. This is one of the reasons why some schools are more successful than others; the coach is allowed to coach his players regardless of who they are, and then the administration backs them. Ask Harpeth's former coach, he didn't play the right players (even though he was successful) and he's gone, because of no backing from administration.
  4. The paper made Richardson out to be the hero, this could be costly in the future. For now some may say she has to play in order to win. I also was suprised at how much she talked about herself instead of what was good for the team. "I was nervous and upset (during the first three quarters)," said Richardson, a regular starter for Harpeth. "We had some differences before the game and that's why he kept me out. "I'm happy he put me in the game in the fourth quarter because I think I helped make a difference." I beleive after rereading her comments that the coach should have kept her out the entire game because she sure is stuck on herself.
  5. Most people would agree that Harpeth has had many good coaches come through the doors, many would also agree that they move on because of lack of administrative support, which leads to parents running programs.
  6. Bill you are correct about the offers, but incorrect about the ACT scores. As long as you are in high school your ACT scores will count toward college. Many private schools in Nashville start their students taking the ACT/SAT in 7th grade. Most students however have not had enough math to do well on the ACT until their Jr. year. My daughter attends a public school and the guidance department there suggests they take it in the spring of their Sophomore year, and then retake it later if scores need to be raised. Note: The 1st time you take the ACT it can be free if you ask for a waiver from the guidance department. Flippo is a good player, but should not be considered a candidate for top in the state.
  7. Dawn Evans is a tremendous player, very skilled, athletic, exciting to watch, and plays with heart. These things are very hard to find in one player. I have seen her play AAU and in high school, and as of yet have not seen her shut down. jcsmithson is a new poster on this site, he/she only has two posts as of today.
  8. I like the tennis balls as an economy solution, use them in a variety of situations. There is another ball and I believe it is called a wobble ball or reaction ball. It is 8-10 dollars, shaped like 4 or 6 ping-pong sized balls glued together. Helps reaction and you must use your eyes to follow it into your hand.
  9. Who made the schedule? The AD or the coaches Does D-II schools schedule differently, like maybe for two years?
  10. Why don't you name all of the single A teams in the mid-southern Tennessee? On second glance I think you did, have you seen anyone outside of this area or heard of anyone else?
  11. I went west this weekend to watch a 12AA game. Jackson South Side beat McNairy Central 45-33, the game was much clsoer than the score tells. McNairy played a very controlled game and JSS struggled with this early. I know Liberty Tech along with these two teams will probably by 1-3 in the district with 4th place up for grabs. Whoever wins 11AA district tourney will have an advantage in the first round of the regions. 11AA will struggle in the region tournament from what I have seen so far.
  12. I was completely wrong about this game, I was sure Sycamore had hit their stride.
  13. Beech should really try and hold the ball and score on each time down the court. WC will win in the end by 5.
  14. I saw both teams play early, I'll say Lincoln Co. by 6.
  15. Independence has improved greatly over last year, the coach is doing a great job.
  16. Just an outside observer, but sounds like some hard feelings. Mendenhall is a D-1 player, but on another post it was said there were 2 D-1 players at Harpeth. While Richardson and Flippo are solid players, they are D-2 at best. This is not meant as harmful, just an honest opinion. I have not seen Sycamore play this year, but this should be a good game. I'll take Sycamore by 5. Mendenhall will be difficult to stop, while the post presence at Sycamore will make the difference.
  17. I wondered what was going on, is the player gone for good, or had the coach just had enough?
  18. Harpeth's loss to Cheatham Co. really is an eye opener, and open's the district up as well. The Harpeth vs. Sycamore game is going to be interesting.
  19. I just got home and am still amazed, that Harpeth got beat ( on their home court). It was a good game but they did get out played especially in the post. I think the main thing is that Coach Johnson just got out coached by Coach Carr. Coach Carr seemed to have a specific game plan from the beginning, and it started paying off in the 2nd half. Great game to get out and watch, should be even better the second time around.
  20. I saw Marshall Co. play earlier this year and was very impressed with their play. I feel with the improvement they will recieve under Coach Steely, they will be the odds on favorite to win the district. They need to do this in order to stay opposite Lipscomb in the region tourny.
  21. I agree Harpeth will be fine, they are a good team with lots of returning experience. I've been following them and am going to try to get to the game tonight. I really enjoy watching Mendenhall play. Sounds like she has really improved from the entries on this post. I also am interested to see Flippo play sounds like she may have moved into the #2 scoring role, and from another post is leading in several other categories. This is a fairly strong district should be interesting to see how it turns out. Cheatham Co. is a young team and should improve dramatically under Coach Carr. Sycamore is the team that could overturn the district, but has alot of work to do on developing a complete game and stopping Harpeth. These teams will probably finish 1, 2, 3, with a shake-up come tournament time.
  22. Missy Lavine, Henry Co., Sophomore has really played well lately, could make a difference down the road. Tweedy and Doty, sophomores at Cheatham Co., I saw them play earlier and they really read the court well for "posts" Jakeera Simmons, sophomore at Lewisburg, could be a major player. Flippo from Harpeth is for real, but she made major waves last year. I saw Harpeth play at Brentwood and they came back from 14 down to win thanks to Flippo. I know Mendenhall is still at Harpeth, who is the other D-1 player?
