  1. Haley Felker, shooting guard from Harpeth High School went over the 1500 point mark on February 2 vs Sycamore High School.
  2. Better tonight.... On the season harpeth has one two out of three. Good luck to all four 11AA schools in the region.
  3. How can you say Waverly is better than Harpeth, when Harpeth beat them both times they played this year? I was not at the C'wood / Harpeth game so I cannot comment on what actually happened or the C'wood's coach reasoning behind not playing his starters. It really was a meaningless game. The top four seeds are much better than the bottom three, Harpeth / Waverly were going to catch each other in the semis with the winner playing c'wood in the finals whether they were seeded two or three. Baring a major upset, the semis and finals should be some good matchups.
  4. Harpeth has played two district games. Stewart County, who they beat by 20 + and Waverly, who they beat by 4 and were picked by many to win the district this year. Harpeth has played most of the year with two players (Miller and Felker) with varsity experience. Their point guard Maryann Fenner has had knee problems and has missed several games. The new coach is playing on average 10 to 12 players a game and they are gaining valuable experience. If they continue to adjust to the new coaches style and the young players continue to improve, Harpeth will compete for the district title. I have not heard of any problems surrounding the new coach. The players have had to make some adjustments on and off the court which are common when a new coach comes on board.
  5. This had absolutely nothing to do with Johnsons coaching ability or the teams success. This decision was made outside of the administration at Harpeth and was based on pressure from a FEW parents and community members OUTSIDE of the program making allegations that had nothing to do with basketball.
  6. Lizzie Walker is a senior. 3 of the 5 players on the all district first team are sophomores. Along with Prince were Sara Bliss from Sycamore and Haley Felker from Harpeth. These three along with Katie Bliss from Sycamore should be fun to watch for the next two years.
  7. This district is has several quality freshman that have stepped up and helped their teams this year. Prince has done a great job for Waverly, but I would rank her 4th behind Dee Bates (Cheatham), Hailey Felker (Harpeth) Katie Bliss (Sycamore).
  8. As I look over the teams in this district this year, the one glaring fact is that several teams are playing alot of Freshman and Sophmores several minutes each game. In a year or two, this district should be very good. 10 games or so into this year, Who is stepping up and standing out for each team so far.
  9. Are coaches not calling in the box scores or is the Tennessean not printing them? There is nothing in the paper this morning about the Cheatham / Sycamore or the Harpeth / Creekwood games. Does anybody have stats for these games.
  10. Based on what I saw this year, honest is not a word I would use to decribe him
  11. Who will take over the NE program? Please tell me that they will not hand this program off to the Junkins Family to ruin.
  12. I spoke with the above mentioned players dad at the Wavo game. He told me her decission had absolutely nothing to do with the coach. Her knee is simply hurting her to much to be able to compete at the level she feels she can play at. As to the player crossing the street, it is the sames dads youngest daughter. He did tell me that a couple of parents from a certain private school had inquired about his daughter transferring. He flat out told me that his daughter had grown up being a Harpeth fan and that is where she wanted to play.
  13. I have seen Harpeth play several games this year. They are a good team, not a great team. When the year started they had 4 players with varsity expereince. They are extremely young off the bench and it shows some nights. They have started a Freshman post most of the season and the first two subs are Sophmores with no experience. Come tournament time the young players will have had a seasons worth of experience and should make a difference. The coach should be commended for for the work ethic and discipline he has instilled in these young ladies. It will payoff in the future. Word is they have a 8th grader crossing the street next year that is the real deal and could possibly be the best all around player that Harpeth has ever had.
  14. I don't believe you can pick a MVP from Harpeth at this time in the season. They have four players that have stepped up at different times throughout the year. Giltner, Newton, Caruthers & Baker have all been very strong. They all play different roles for this team. Thats what makes Harpeth such a threat. You can't shut them all down every night. One of them is going to be on. I do believe that Newton is the most versatile player. He can go inside or out and plays hard every minute of every game.
  15. Harpeth was 12 of 16 from 3 in their last game against Sycamore
