  1. Once again, I was never mad at anything you posted. Only to those that show disrespect to students that are so talented and work so hard. Our high school students need to be brought up not torn down all the time. Congrats to your sister. It is an honor to be a part of DCI.
  2. Never said I was mad. And your right varybarry did give props for band. It was you that said the ugly disrespectful things. Thank you for correcting me and by the way I did play football in high school. I know personally what 3 of my children go through in band.
  3. Where to begin? There is a lack of knowledge in the statements above which is not varybarry fault. I realize that this is a forum for opinions but I will state some facts. Marching Band is a competition. You don't compete against one band, you compete against up to 20 or 30 according to the competition size. Not all bands compete. Those bands may not have a strenuous activity level ( like blackman, they don't compete only sit in the stands and play). I could probably talk all day about this subject. I have had 3 children participate in competitive marching band in the Boro. I have watched them practice for 6 hours straight before competeing. I've taken them to practice at 6:30 in the morning only to practice all day before jumping on a bus for 2 hours, then go compete for several hours. All this practicing was on pavement. Several afternoons during the two week band camp, it would be so hot that we literally cooked an egg on the parking lot. Pavement temp. was up 120 degrees. This year, I watched the band practice non stop only to see the football team take 3 breaks during that time. (it was near 100). That was before all outdoor activity was made to stop in Rutherford County. I've seen broken arms, torn ACL (fast, quick turns while marching), broken noses, sprained ankles and wrists. I have added the hours up during the 2 week band camp. The band practiced more than the football team during their camp. All that hard work is decided by some judge's opinion. Too bad football isn't score that way. Then Siegel may win by some sort of "style" points given by a referee based on his opinion. I would like to see some of these so called athletes run down the field backwards on their tip toes carrying a huge tuba while trying to hit their spots in 10 counts. And if they don't, they could possibly hurt someone by being in the wrong spot. Also, it could cause the judges to score them so low that (the entire band of 160 kids) they lose. It takes endurance, skill, talent and phsyical skills to compete. You also have to be very coordinated because while doing all the things I mentioned above you also have to play thousands and thousands of notes on your instrument ( your hands and fingers flying over the intruments) Hands and feet going opposite directions. REAL marching bands - How can you not call it a sport?
  4. In Iraq, I believe his last name was Walkup and also in a motorcycle accident, Brandon George. He graduated in 2005. Don't know if he played any sports.
  5. He can disenroll (if thats even a word), declare homeschool status and come back after the game and register at Smyrna High.

You have got to be kidding me ... Lavergne! seen you at Hendersonville for the last 5 years! You can't even win that competition in the small band division. You make me laugh.
  7. LHS - you mean Lavergne! Ha Ha JOKE!
  8. They are a great rock n roll band in the stand, but the girl singing does get on your nerves sometimes. It is in the band directors contract not to march. What is he scared of? Competition is great for a band plus the exercise is a bonus!
  9. I'm sorry.I don't know what business that is. I graduated in 1980 between both the brothers. I guess it is the 1980 season Cartwright played and 1981 he graduated in. I stand corrected on the year.
  10. Maybe you forgot about Cartwright, class of 81. His brother played college basketball.
  11. That's right! Should be great. No reason not to support such great talent. Cumberland is nearly in our backyard.
  12. It seems to me that both schools should be responsible for safety of people's cars since it is a Finley. Its been awhile since I went to a game at Finley but I don't recall the stadium being at Baylor's campus. back on campus! thats the way it is suppose to be.
  13. I hope to see Corvin and Rankins get some playing time at Cumberland U. That would be nice to watch some local guys play at the next level.
  14. ONCE LIVED IN THE ATOMIC CITY FOR 5 YEARS WHEN OAK RIDGE RULED IN FOOTBALL. WHAT'S GOING ON NOW?
  15. NEVER QUESTIONED YOUR DEGREES AND WHERE THEY ARE FROM. I WAS TALKING ABOUT MYSELF. I HAVE TWO DEGREES FROM UT AND NO I AM TOO OLD TO REMEMBER IF MY PARENTS TOLD ME MY IQ SCORE. NOT AS OLD AS YOU. I'M 45. THE ABOVE THINGS YOU STATED ARE NOW FACTS BUT THE GIRL'S SCHOOL AND BLIND SCHOOL COMMENTS ARE NOT. YOU SHOULD KNOW AS AN ADULT THAT WE SHOULD BE BUILDING UP TODAY YOUTH, NOT TEARING THEM DOWN. AS FOR CAPS, I HAVE TO USE CAPS HERE AT WORK MOST OF THE TIME AND IT IS JUST EASIER TO LEAVE THEM ON. I KNOW THE COMPUTER GURUS CALL IT SCREAMING. I CALL IT BEING LAZY. I USE MY LUNCH BREAK TO FOLLOW SPORTS IN THE BORO ON COACHT BECAUSE OUR PAPER DOES'NT DO ENOUGH. I LIKE OPINIONS BUT MOSTLY FACTS. I KNOW THERE ARE MORE ADULTS ON HERE THAT FEEL THE SAME WAY AS I DO. LETS TALK MORE ABOUT THE POSITIVE THINGS HAPPENING IN OUR SPORTS PROGRAMS IN THE BORO.
  16. 2 DEGREES FROM ONE COLLEGE AND WE CAN COMPARE KNOWLEDGE ALL SUMMER LONG, EVEN THOUGH MY DEGREES ARE NOT IN SPORTS OR BELITTLING SPORT PROGRAMS. I KNEW MY COMMENT WOULD GET YOU TO TELL YOUR AGE. JUST WASN'T SURE IF IT WAS AN ADULT OR CHILD THAT WAS PUTTING DOWN SIEGEL. JUST GUESSING YOU ARE STILL BITTER ABOUT THE OAKLAND/SIEGEL SPLIT OVER 4 YEARS AGO. GIVE SCHOOLS THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE BY STATING FACTS INSTEAD OF PUT DOWNS.
  17. Just how old are you Old Dad? 5? Oh that must be your IQ, cause 5 is not old enough to be a dad. Grow up old man!
  18. Sammie is not all junk. This must be warren county trash talk.
  19. d2d, can you ever give credit where credit is do? Do you always have to be jealous of Oakland? I'm not even an Oakland fan but I have eyes in my head. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I have lived in the boro for 15 years and yes, this team is one of the best I've seen.
  20. Great game! Best I've seen in the glass house including our own Mtsu. Oakland is by far the best Murfreesboro team we have had in years. Yes I said years!! That includes my own Siegel stars. Enjoyed this entire basketball season!
  21. Congrats to Riverdale for keeping the gold ball at home. Was with those beautiful young ladies during their charity formal. DBS is an awesome sorority that does tons of community and charity work. They earned that right to go to the presentation through their charity work. It was not just cheerleaders but other members from the other schools in the boro but mostly Riverdale. Lets support Oakland next!
  22. Thats where YOU are wrong. No one is flappin from Siegel. Can't you Oakland people give it up and enjoy this moment? Do you always have to say crap? I know most of these people on here and the ones from Siegel. They want the trophy to stay in the boro. It only makes basketball stronger in this city and puts us on the map. It helps all the athletic programs in the boro. It helps bring more recruiters from colleges making more opportunities for all. Stop being bitter over nothing anyone could control over 4 years ago. Give it up and move on.
  23. Your really funny lost old man! Your name is very fitting. This is about Oakland. A real team. Not a one man/woman show. I'm happy for riverdale and hope for the best for oakland. Oakland plays team ball and thats what its all about. Stick to facts and quit hating on other teams in 7aaa.
