  1. It is my understanding that several Tennessee wrestlers competed in what is considered the toughest youth tournament in the nation and Cameron Croy (Brentwood High School) won in the finals after having to go over 5 minutes of overtime. How did the other Tennesssee wrestlers do in this tournament?
  2. Stan, Can you prove that Brentwood Academy recruited athletes for years? If not you may want to stay quiet or you could be held liable and you are smart enough to know that people have been held liable for things they post on message boards. FYI, I feel the same as you but I have zero proof.
  3. I have probably said this over one thousand times but this is nothing more than a "COMMUNIST" rule. It's intent is to pull those teams that work the hardest back down to everyones level. It rewards the lazy coach and players that want to go fishing, bird hunting, watch TV, play video games, etc... If that's what you want to do and the school board allows you to get away with it that is great but don't punish those that are willing to work. Was the United States not considered the place of opportunity for those willing to make huge sacrafices and work the hardest?
  4. JMO, but from reading the transcript the SC will vote down party lines. The conservatives will vote for the TSSAA & the liberals will vote for BA. IMO, BA did little if anything wrong but they will loose this case because of external issues. The SC is well aware that the NCAA and other major organizations are standing behind the TSSAA. If BA wins a major can of worms will be opened and it will result in national ramifications.
  5. Is Jeff not part of that good Hit after Hit pitching staff during the Summer? Do they have any 2007 pitchers that have not signed as of this date?
  6. Congratulations to Jeff and his family.
  7. Most high school batters see/pickup the ball better with natural sunlight. Most high school baseball fields don't have great lighting like AAA or MLB stadiums and seeing the ball can be difficult at times.

    Summer Baseball

I was told that it is going to apply to the Summer & Fall.

    Summer Baseball

Starting the Fall of 2007 "Fall Baseball" with school teams will not be allowed and this will be the last year (2007) that you can keep your team together for the Summer. This is refered to as the 50/50 rule in that you may not have 50% of the players (in baseball it will no more than 4 players) from the same school playing on the same Summer team.
  10. Congratulations to a very good wrestler.
  11. I don't know anything about Coach Scharsch and he may very well become a good coach but Coach Flatt's record speaks for itself. He has won more state championships than any coach in Tennessee and he has more victories than any coach in Tennessee history. While I don't care for the way that Coach Flatt runs his program, he is a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good football coach. The principal made a very good hire if the players & parents buy into his program.
  12. If the TSSAA wins the case you will see a complete split between the private schools and the public schools. IMO, the private schools would then establish their own organization. If Brentwood Academy wins: Everyone will be placed back together in 4 divisions for football. You will see the financial aid rules changed to something similar to what they were before the split. The TSSAA will try to cut a deal to pay a % of the legal fees and the various boards will have 50% public school and 50% private school officials on them. The TSSAA will use their insurance to pay X amount of the legal fees and the remaining balance will be paid by the member schools. Brentwood Academy will own the keys to the TSSAA offices and will instruct everyone as to how things are going to be done and we will really have no choice but to go along with them. IMO, you are going to see BA do a complete 180 and change directions in the way that they handle athletics. They will still hire good coaches and try to win but you will see them work hard to improve their academic and arts programs. The adminstration has been waiting for the day that Coach Flatt and his regime retires so they can run the school like a true Prep school.
  13. See how long he stays an assistant. Don't be shocked if he becomes the head coach.

    Goodpasture

Hey, I am on your side. I also feel that serious damage can be done to the young pitchers arm and he is only being used by his coach.

    Goodpasture

Lisiten DA you and the coach are an idiot if you feel it's ok for Darnell to throw 140+ pitches in any game no matter what the weather. Very few good pitchers are ever going to tell the coach that they can't continue to pitch in a game. The coach is the adult and throwing 140+ pitches is not only asking for arm trouble but is close to being child abuse. The big league guys don't even throw that many pitches and they are getting paid the big bucks. Logan needs to get as far away from that program as he can before they hurt him.

    Weightlifting Teams

bigchief, My advice would be to run it like a club sport for a few years (Hockey, Swimming, LAX, etc...) and then see if the TSSAA wanted to take it over. Get a coach to head each region and then have a state championship on a date in early May. It would also make sense to have the state championship in Middle Tennessee so that you limit the drive time for some schools.
  17. JMO, but Oak Ridge should be able to win 6-7 games per year on athletic talent alone. Who do they play that is going to be very tough other than Fulton & DB? Oak Ridge has good athletes with size & speed and if you just get them in the right position you will win games. A good coaching staff should compete for state championships most years and great staff could have a program like Maryville.

    one state

California & New Jersey have 1 state championship PA only has two divisions and they have 3X the number of schools wrestling that Tennessee does.
  19. I can tell you more about Tennessee wrestling from sunny South Florida than you can from Bradley County. I do know that you continue to run from the D2 schools and the tough teams.

    one state

I am sure that the D2 guy's would like for everyone to be placed back together but the D1 people are in no way going to vote to place everyone back together. It's easy to knock the D2 schools but let's not forget that the D1 schools voted to place the financial aid giving schools in D2 even though many of those schools helped found the TSSAA.
  21. Most coaches don't want others to know their teams stats.
  22. hoosierdad, You not only hit the nail on the head but you drove it home with a sledgehammer. If your a stud why would you not take your chances against the best @ that was the senior nationals? Some kids did well last season @ the junior nationals (NHSCA) but the junior division is not nearly as difficult as the senior division when all of the animals come out to play. If you are going to wrestle in college you need to attend unless you have some type of injury.

    Weightlifting Teams

If it's such a great idea then why don't the coaches get together and start it. Swimming, ice hockey, and LAX are club sports and seem to do very well. If you show that schools want weightlifting teams then the T$$AA will sponsor the sport because they want the revenue.
  24. What league are you talking about? If your talking about the region that Science Hill is in then that is quite weak compared to the region that Indy. was in or the Riverdale, Oakland, Smyrna, etc... region. Remember that several folks said that Bruce Pearl couldn't coach at a "Big Time" school even though he had won a DII National Championship but he seems to have done just fine.
  25. I understand that he has one win over 5A teams with a winning record. Will you answer the other questions that I ask of you?
