  1. Mapelwood & Whites Creek are not great teams. They could be refered to as above average teams in some years and average teams at best other years. If you wanted to play a good public school teams from Middle Tennessee you would play one of the top 4 teams in the Ravenwood region.

Vol, Stealing is stealing & it does not matter how anyone tries to spin it, stealing is wrong we can all agree on that one. For some reason private schools are giving students the option of withdrawing before they are being expelled. Do you know why they are doing this?

    Overton vs MBA

Is MBA going to insert Simpson (8th grade) in the lineup or allow Buchanan to wrestle @ 103.
  4. Shadow, Why are they not allowed to serve 2 terms of 2 or 3 years? Maybe what everyone needs is term limits and they are a state actor.

It sounds like JP2 told him he could withdraw or he would be expelled. If this is the case then he still should not be allowed to compete as everyone would just be circumventing the rules.
  6. It was reported in the Tennessean that Todd Miller (Montgomery Bell Academy) has committed to play baseball for Notre Dame. Congratulations to Todd & his family.
  7. An article in the Tennessean today claims that Golden Tate (Pope John Paul II) will sign with Notre Dame. They have scheduled a press conference in front of their student body today and two Notre Dame coaches will attend.
  8. I noticed that Chattanooga Red Bank finished dead last in the tournament with one point. I understand that it is a tough tournament but what happened? Did they just not wrestle well?
  9. VG, The problems as I see them is that the "private school haters" do so because they don't understand private schools, what they are or why anyone would send their child to one. Those same people know very little about private schools other than what they have been told by other people. I only see one way for the public & private schools to be brought back together and it all hinges on Brentwood Academy and what they want to do. We all know that they won the legal battle but the TSSAA decided to appeal the verdict. If BA wins the appeal (which I see no reason that they will not) then they will be in the drivers seat with the TSSAA. The TSSAA will owe them a ton of money and IMO they will cut a deal to drop SOME OF THE LEGAL FEES if the TSSAA will place everyone back together. The TSSAA will accept the deal and place everyone back together with 4 or 5 classification for football. They will also look at using the "MERIT SYSTEM" at that time which IMO most of the private schools and some of the public schools would be in favor of. If the TSSAA and its member schools decide that they would rather pay the legal fees they will then have to send a check to Brentwood Academy and its legal defense team. I am not sure but I don't think that they will have any type of payment plan and the schools will have to cut a check for their % of the invoice within 30 days. Some people have suggested that the legal fees could reach 5 million dollars or more.
  10. With a school like Trousdale County having such a great football tradition and winning so many state championships just how good are their other sports? Do they get to the state tournament in basketball and baseball? How many of the Trousdale County starting football players play other sports? What I have found with schools that have great teams in one sport is that the best athletes in the school only play that sport and they work year around on that one sport.
  11. The Titans would be better off making a 2 or 3 million dollar donation to TSU to help them renovate their stadium. The TSU fans and student body would much rather play in the "HOLE" than play at LP field.
  12. Why would the coaches have to attend the meeting to vote? With the technology that we have today you could email in your nominations and someone could compile the list and send it to the coaches which could then email their vote to a central location.
  13. I just took a look at several schedules on various websites and Father Ryan may have the most difficult schedule. McGavock Franklin Road Academy Southridge Indiana Duals (Mater Dei wrestled in this event) Ensworth Brentwood McCallie Invitational Montgomery Bell Academy Duals Collins Hill Duals (Atlanta, GA) Father Ryan Invitational John Overton Brentwood Academy Clarksville Franklin Montgomery Bell Academy
  14. No doubt that a using the Merit System for football would be the most fair thing for all schools. If the private schools are that good they will play in a higher classification and be seperated from the small rual public schools. The problems witht he Merit System as I see them are two fold: 1. The Board of Control is not looking to be fair. 2. People are scared of the unknown and they don't understand the Merit System
  15. If Notre Dame is so good why will they not wrestle Father Ryan in a dual on Sunday afternoon like they did for 25+ seasons? Mullins is running and needs to turn the program over to Johnny Lennon.
  16. Some of the older coaches in Tennessee will tell you that the TSSAA building was built and paid for by basketball.
  17. If the parents are not responsible for teaching their children how to act then who is? The parents had the child and unless they have given up custody of that child would you tell me who is responsible. Why would the school or coach be responsible? If the school is going to be responsible for how students act then that is just another government program to be paid for by taxes. Is anyone ever going to take a firm stance and tell the so called parents that they are responsible for their children? This sounds like it is nothing more than a vicious cycle of idiots with no parenting skills having children and then walking away from their responsibilities and the government allowing them to get away with it.
  18. Ladies & Gentlemen, Rich kids, poor kids, redneck kids, blue collar kids, white kids, black kids, asian kids, etc... the facts are they are all kids and money has nothing to do with success on the athletic field or in the classroom. Most kids will do what their parents expect them and allow them to do. If your parents expect you to make great grades and score high on the ACT or SAT the kids will do their best to please their parents most of the time. The only difference that I can see between rual public school kids and private school kids are some of the life experiences. Rual kids often understand the values of hunting & fishing because that is their enviroment. City kids understand some of the social graces & visiting museums because that is their enviroment. Many times the city kids go off to college and start hunting & fishing with their new friends from rual towns. How many times have the rual girls gone to college and taken an interest in art because of the many museums around the university? The main people that want a total split are the people that really don't want anything to be fair but want a major advantage for their school. If they wanted to be fair they would push for the MERIT SYSTEM but that's not going to happen.
  19. The problem is that we have a trend where kids are leaving private schools and are allowed to participate in athletics at a public school without having to sit out one year from their last date of participation. Some of the examples are: MBA QB leaves after playing some his sophmore year and is eligible to play @ Indy Lipscomb RB & DB leaves and is allowed to play @ Ravenwood Father Ryan girls BB players leaves and is allowed to play at Greenbrier JP2 football player and 2X State Wrestling Champion is allowed to leave and wrestle for Centennial. What is the deal here? Has the TSSAA lost complete control or do they even care anymore?
  20. I looks like you had two good officials for the 1993 State Duals and one good official for the 1995 State Duals.
  21. Brentwood Academy Maryville Alcoa McCallie Fulton Smyrna Ravenwood Riverdale Hillsboro Baylor FYI, the Sonny Moore rankings have everyone combined.
  22. When you look at all of the facts we all know that how kids act, what they say, where they go, and what they do is the responsibility of their parents and only their parents. If my kids act like a fool it's my responsibility to take control of the situation and not the schools. Never ever blame the school or the school enviroment on your childs behavior because they are your children and you can correct their behavior if you are willing to take the necessary steps.
  23. Hoosierdad, Don't knock madonna!!!!! Even though they may be fake (just for show) they look good to me!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Look we all know who you are talking about so why don't you just call them out by their name? Keep one thing in mind, while they may not be good officials, try to call all CBHS matches, are graduates of CBHS, etc... they do get paid as much as the good officials.
